BONAI Charger
I have had this unit for about a month and used it more than a dozen times and so far it has performed perfectly, it is very straight forward to use, slot the batteries into place, switch on and let it do its thing. The charge function does what the manufacturer says it will do and goes into trickle charge when finished, the discharge function works similarly, reverts to charge when finished discharging the battery, useful if you want to do an interim charge on a not fully discharged battery. It also managed to pick up a faulty battery and gave me an error message on the LCD display. On the subject of the display, it is quite small in size, although the battery icons are easily seen, only the print is small, but I suppose the display is in proportion to the size of the unit, which is very neat. The build quality feels good, as for the long term reliability, it is too soon for me to comment on but the fact that BONAI offered me an extension to the one year warranty would indicate that they are quite confident in the product lasting.I compared quite a few units in this price bracket and this one came out on top in my opinion, some of the others did very similar but did not allow charging of say two batteries, had to be fully loaded, this is a useful feature of this unit.At this price, I would certainly recommend it given my experience of it.

Avoiding this charger: Potential fire risk!
I have this charger over the months with various brand batteries on it and they all seem to stop working after about 15 to 20 charges. The last one that stop working had got so hot charging 4 AAA Batteries that it had melted the plastic near the LCD display. If it had carried on going there is the strong possibility that it would have caused a fire. Therefore I would warn people off buying this charger and if you don't leave it on in an empty room or overnight as it is a fire risk.

Goodbye old and hello new!
After having a really old battery charger that took forever to charge any batteries and in the end wasn’t really doing it’s job, I found this one on amazon and thought I’d give it a go and wow I actually love it, I love a battery charger! It charges the batteries so fast (compared to my old one, which is probably over 5 years old... or way more..) I love that it tells you how charged they are and Iv found some of my batteries faulty (as suspected) and the charger told me with “error” which for some reason totally amazes me along with its ease of use and just that it’s great at doing its job! And doesn’t take all night to charge, goodbye old charger!

Great for charging high capacity cells, but...
I bought this because it was available for £10 less than the identical EBL branded one, specifically for charging high capacity 10,000mAh D cells, which it can handle four at a time. It does this very well and also has a discharge function that works on all four slots simultaneously. However, the charging current is fixed at 1 amp, which is way too high, in my opinion, for low capacity cells. I have some 800mAh AA and 300mAh AAA cells which I will not put in this charger. Instead, I'll use my other, more sophisticated charger for these, as I can set it to a more sensible 200mA charge current. The more sophisticated charger can only charge two D cells simultaneously, which is why I bought this one to supplement it.As a dedicated D and C cell charger it's good value for £15. However, in my opinion, it isn't suitable for many AA and AAA cells. I don't have any 9V NiMH batteries so I can't comment on that aspect of this charger. All my 9V batteries are lithium and are charged via a USB socket.

Saving money in time
Having quite a few things in the house that needs batteries as specialy sons toys. has meant I have spent a lot of money on batteries. Quite often I find my electrics are not at full power as my batteries are running out, or I find I have to rifle through millions of batteries in a drawer just to find one that works! I also don't like the fact I know they are considered hazardous waste and are environmentally-hard to dispose of. It's for these reasons I decided to give rechargeable batteries a go.I love the way I can chuck this charger in the same drawer as all the rest of my chargers and just plug in when I need it. I can always make sure my batteries are at full power (I often put batteries on to charge overnight) and I've probably already saved a fortune from not having to buy any new ones. Definitely worth buying!Overall the product was very good value and seems to be very good quality.Highly recommend

This charger can do things most chargers cannot do - but it is simple to use all the same!
The charger is strongly built therefore should last. My charger came without instructions, alas; fortunately the webpage from which I made my purchase is pretty clear on most things. As I understand matters, you can charge different sizes of battery all at the same time: for example, a D cell, a C cell, an AA cell and an AAA cell all together at the same time. That's handy! In my new Sony DAB radio I am using the Amazon rechargeable batteries which were supplied along with this charger; those batteries were delivered fully charged and they have not needed a re-charge thus far so I have not needed to use the charger yet. Some time in the future, I am willing to submit a long term report on the performance of this charger, which I emphasize has the virtue of being easy to use - that's why I chose it.

Iffy battery charger
There was supposed to be a charge indicator. If there it’s not working. I’m not sure I’d recommend this charger. Probably not. I wouldn’t be surprised if the charger was bought and returned by a previous buyer and immediately sent out to me. Typically a return product. I’ll buy the next one from another supplier.
