Great Quality & Will Make Your Floor Outlets Work
When we moved into our new apartment we had this terrible, ugly, cheap floor box with tabs that you had to flip up to get access to the outlets. That means you have the tabs, the plugs and the cable NOT flush to the floor, easy to trip over and impossible to move furniture over. This takes a little more effort to install. I paid for a professional electrician to put it in. What is above the floor now is no higher than the height of the power strip as it lays on the floor. It is tucked away under our bookshelf, unseen, and providing power to my whole entertainment center. When we give our apartment back to the landlord, the clean and beautiful look of this brass, flush floor, recessed outlet box, there will be nothing for them to object to. Can you even find it in the picture?

Best price and possibly best finish (NICE socket covers!) I've seen in a floor box
After my supplier failed once on sending the right in-floor box for surface mounting onto a finished wood floor (as opposed to setting onto sub-floor), and then failed again by special-ordering a $180 product more suited to high-rises (if anything at all), this box is well-made, installs on finished floors (and other situations, see manufacturer information), and has possibly the best socket cover mechanism I've seen in a floor box. The covers snap open with a strong finger-nail or most anything hard (compared to many that require a tool), remain captive to the box (won't get lost like some others out there), and OPEN IN EITHER DIRECTION (reversible flap direction proved to be a life-saver, since I hadn't considered this when I installed the base near a wall: as it turned out, that didn't matter)!

Hatch is very difficult to open
The hatch on this outlet is ridiculously hard to open. There's too much tension in the clasp. You cannot use your fingers and will need a flat head screw driver to provide leverage, and when you do this you'll begin to scratch at the soft metal of the outlet. Apart from this the outlet is solid, looks good and is affordable. Installation is difficult but it's understandably a complex device.

Try to open the lid BEFORE installing - had to file the locking pins - works great - easy install!
Prior to installing I discovered the lid was extremely hard to open pushing up from the underside with both thumbs. I did not want scratch it so I did NOT try pry it open from the top. After reclosing it I was unable to push it open again, and I'm quite strong, I popped it open again from the underside using a wooden dowel that I banged downward to the floor..Then I siad to self - "go ahead file those damn pins". After several test trials I got the easy opening I wanted. The product is quite superior to a lot of the junk that is out here on the market. Tip: Scan the template on the back side of the instructions so you can easily cut out the template without destroying the instructions on the front page.

HUBBELL IS THE BEST BUY THIS ONE
Hubbell is the best. This is the finest quality floor box. I am a master electrician and you won't find a better quality box anywhere. Raco is owned by hubbell. The sating is hubbell is double but here it's not. Think heavy duty brass cover, deep enough to plug in and have cords come through ports without cover staying open, spacious junction box, heavy duty black decora TR duplex. Client was happy. Make your own template with the cardboard box. I installed into a luxury thick shaggy carpet.

Product is fine. Directions are poor.
Product is fine. Sturdy, sound adjustable height. Do not trust the directions on: -How to make a cut-out. If you make the opening square without rounding the corners, the corners will show after installation. -Pay attention to where screws will land after tightening. There will be more removal of wood to make room.
