Top rated heat map for seeds /pets
This heat map has proved to be one of my best and most useful tools in the growing of plants and seeds. I researched loads of custom made trays for a lot more money than I paid for this heat mat. They all look good but when you read the small print they are very small unless you pay big money. I also did not want to have a big item to store not being used at warmer times of the year. The mat seemed to fit the job I wanted perfectly so thought at the price of £18 it was worth a try. I also purchased 2 x trays with clear lids from Wilko's for £4.00 each so total cost £26.00.I made the box from off cuts and put some insulating foil in the bottom but it does not get that hot to worry about underneath heat I just wanted to direct any heat upwards into the soil. I am having great results and with no loss which has not been my previous experience. Some data you might be interested in. width 255mm by length 500mm. When turned on it shows a usage of 20watts on my smart meter. Calculate that and it costs to keep on 24hrs a day 6p or 40p a week or £1.63 a month. Not expensive to run and the accurate temp gauge you can see in the photos tells me it is a constant 22deg C. I have thought about buying a plug in thermostat to control the temp but at £20 ish I thought currently not worth the investment but maybe later.Hope this helps and of course dont forget when not in use the mat folds up and the box can store pots in the green house.

Helps seeds germinate fast
I bought 2 of these as I live high up and we get lots 0* temp at night.they are small, I can get one full seed tray on each mat but my seeds germinated in 4/5 days even with glass plates missing from my green house so I’m very impressed. All my seeds did well and I’m using them for the seedlings now . The down side is that once the temperature is reached, it stays hot and in small modules, which is what we all use for seedlings, the compost dries out fast. You just remove the tray from the pad and water it and I turn the pads off mid morning as in this heat wave we’re having, it gets up to 30* in the green house by 3 pm.i think for the size they are vastly over priced like anything that has a ‘gardening ‘ tag on, and wonder if I put a cheap electric blanket (£24) in a waterproof bag, I could get a lot more seedlings to come through. I do have a very large garden though, so if you’ve got a small veg patch etc I. Sure a couple of these would work for you. It’s useful to cover with thick plastic covers or fleece or something over the top at night to keep them warm until they look strong enough to to transplant. Even with cosy roots, the frost can burn the tips. All in all a useful acquisition for any gardener growing from seed.

Great night-time temperatures
Years ago, I bought a Vitopod propagator, which has given up the ghost. However, the structure is still excellent and all I needed was a heat source. These pads (two for the large Vitopod) are excellent for maintaining a steady temperature of 21.5 deg C through the night. My propagator is in an unheated large greenhouse in an exposed position.I regret not buying a thermostat, as the daytime temperatures can be very high (a max of 45.5 deg C), but I've decided on a cooling regime instead - take the lid off the propagator in the morning, but keep switched on; turn off if the sun comes out, and if very sunny close the greenhouse blinds. This has worked very well - cucumbers and melons up in a week, tomatoes a couple of days later, peppers and chillis just showing signs of life. This is quicker than I got with the Vitopod, but I realise now that I must have kept the morning temperature too low on its thermostat. P.S. I do love seeing seeds germinate - isn't life wonderful?!

My tomato seeds germinated in record time.
This has proved to be extremely useful and beneficial for my tomato seeds. I was a little late in planting so I wanted to try to get ahead with them and boy! did this heated pad do that. The seeds germinated ultra quickly and I'm on course now for some great toms this summer. The pad is very efficient and easy to use. It simply plugs in and provides a good constant warmth without getting too hot - in other words it does exactly what you would expect. It came rolled up in a box. When it was unpacked it didn't lie flat from where it had been rolled, but I left it in the warm sun for a little while and it smoothed out most of the unevenness and then in use it flattened out further - so all good. It's big enough to accommodate a full size see tray, with a little room to spare if you had a couple of little pots of seeds that needed a bit of heat.So in summary - it's highly recommended!!

Great and Does what it needs too!
Had a while now, easy to control, works well, you do need to set it lower for temps you want in my opinion. I use it for plants and its great for a 2x2 tent with grow light in the winter for growing. In summer will need not it, but for seedlings its great, so its has a duel use for me.

Easy to use and just works
Simply took out the box, unrolled, plugged in and it works, within 12 hours of using this item my seeds (tomato) began to germinate, they had been planted two days before with no visible action. Some people have commented that they would prefer a temperature control but being a novice to these gardening technologies I wouldn't know what temperature to adjust to so I am grateful for the 'lack' of choice here, the uni-temperature appears to be effective, my tomato and scotch bonnet pepper seeds are responding very well to this mat, I definitely recommend. The mat is black with green writing instructions which are clear.

Good but be careful
Do not use for vivariums or reptiles. It's temperature is high. And will mark/scorch the vivariumGreat though if you use it carefully. Use a thermostat.Product itself is great. Very handy and secure. Fab
