Is there Vitamin B6 or any other additional vitamins/minerals blended with the 5-HTP?

Amino acids are virtually useless without vitamin B6...they depend on it for the conversion to neurotransmitters. Both Dr. Pricilla Slagle and Dr. David Gersten (google them) say to take enteric coated p-5'-p with aminos. The enteric coating ensures delivery bypassing the liver conversion of regular B6 to p-5'-p. P-5'-p is the co-enzymatic form of B6. Vitamin C also is advised to take b/c it has an effect on amino conversion to neurotransmitters. In summary take: 1. Vitamin C, not ascorbic acid but a whole food form, Megafood brand or Garden of Life both make a whole food form of Vitamin C. 2. Enteric coated p-5'-p, Solgar brand is a good one. 3. Whole food B-Complex so you don't encounter any imbalances of the Bs taking only p-5'-p. Megafood brand is my favorite. They have a good balanced one. Also take L-Tyrosine too so you don't deplete your dopamine or norepinephrine levels just taking 5-HTP. And finally, take a whey protein powder for balancing your aminos. Make sure it's whey concentrate which is less processed than whey isolate. I like Jarrow formulas whey concentrate but if money isn't an issue definitely take Mercola whey or Premier Research Labs whey. Most whey is in isolated form and contains many contaminants.... heavy metals, antibiotics, growth hormones, etc... Dr. Carolyn Dean has a fantastic whey concentrate powder called ReStructure which isn't unfortunately sold on amazon. Just google it. It's actually a meal replacement which will save you on food costs. Good luck.

Can anyone tell me how this compares to Vitamin World's 5-htp?

Dr. Slagel in her book, The Way Up From Down, and on her website by the same name, recommends Now Foods brand 5-HTP and L-Tyrosine for mood disorders. She is a re-known integrative psychiatrist w/45 years of clinical experience using nutrient therapy so anything she recommends is legit. You want to take a co-enzymated B-complex and a good multi while using 5-HTP along with Now Foods L-Tyrosine for neurotransmitter balance of serotonin and norepinephrine/dopamine. Using just 5 alone can deplete your dopamine/norep levels, vise versa.

What is the difference between the 2 120 bottles?

I ordered two the same (I take 2 each night before bed), but always like to have it on hand. The supplement does come in different strengths (50 mg, 100 mg,?etc.). I get the 100 mg formula. Hope that answers your question.

Is this a time-released formula?

No. I feel sleepy about 45min to 1 hr after taking it but you can push through that feeling if you don't want to sleep.
