Abraham Kawai'i: A brief history of the man, the kahuna, and kahuna bodywork

This was a great book for me. Once I started reading it, I did not want to put it down. I would highly recommend it.

This book is a treasure. It provides insights into profound teachings that alter lifetimes. To come in contact with a true master is miraculous, and the author reveals not only his inroads but her own which serve as rafts to launch you forward. A treasure.

I was very happy that Tamara finally brought into print a fairly accurate account of Abraham Kawai'i as a man, a teacher and kahuna. He was and will always be the teacher who had the biggest impact in my life. I am living in Hawai'i because of him and how I live my life to this day based on many Hawaiian and universal principles that he taught. I was very fortunate to have been around in the formative years starting back in 1987 and I am also connected to Tamara as well through trainings. It is very touching to hear all the stories we heard retold through Tamara. I think her way of expressing as a writer is very clear , informative and inspirational.I feel that it is important to honor the work of Abraham as he has touched so many lives. Many people try to imitate his work who didn't really know him and perhaps this book will bring more understanding of what he was about and what he shared with the world. Tamara was the one who was closest to his work and she is the one who needed to tell his story. Kahu Abraham Kawai'i changed lives and he is missed.

This book was wonderful to read. As a Lomi massage practitioner it was required reading for one of our classes. It truly inspired me!

Tamara Ho'okahi has done a wonderful job of capturing snippits and telling about a man who was uncapturable in his multifaceted magnificence. Some of these stories had been told and retold over the years I trained with Abraham Kawai'i, some were new to me. All of them brought me back to those wonderfully, sometimes painfully, adventurous times I spent with him.Mahalo nui loa, Tamara Ho'okahi for putting yourself "on the line", so to speak, in carrying forward the work of this brilliant, uncontainable being you called teacher, partner and husband (and who knows what else). All of us who knew him, or wanted to, are richer for these stories and reminders that we each contain our own brilliance and magnificence and when we acknowledge and express the "yes" the universe conspires to support us.

I am so excited to read more about Kahu Abraham. I really like this book after someone told me I should read this. It is very intersting how this kahuna was taught and how he taught. If anyone wished to learn more about Hawaiian ways this is a great read.

I enjoyed the story . Very interesting to follow a persons life from a child on. I also enjoy the body work of the Lomi Lomi

J'attendais beaucoup de ce livre. C'est un récit complaisant et inconditionnel écrit par la compagne de ce maître dont les méthodes, qui ne sont jamais vraiment décrites, permettent de constater qu'il n'était pas vraiment le détenteur de la sagesse de l'Aloha mais plutôt de thérapies de groupe qui m'ont semblé ne pas refléter vraiment la démarche des véritables kahunas...

Great Book, still have to read but looking forward to it.

In den letzten Jahren habe ich eine Menge Bücher gelesen. Literarische. Psychologische. Dokumentarische. Spirituelle. Und natürlich viele, viele über Schamanismus und über Hawaii. Immer habe ich in den Büchern etwas gesucht, das ich manchmal gefunden und manchmal vermisst hab.Und jetzt habe ich die Geschichte von Abraham Kawai'i gelesen und und damit ein Buch entdeckt, in dem der Leser nicht einfach nur noch mehr Wissen findet - sondern sich selbst. Das Buch ermutigt, diese eine Sache im Leben zu finden, für die man eine Leidenschaft hat. Und sie zu leben. Humorvoll vermittelt die Autorin dem Leser Mitgefühl, Kreativität und Freude am eigenen Dasein. Auch Wissen, ja. Und auch so viel Spannung und Faszination wie seit Jack London's Seewolf nicht mehr. "There is always a YES" steht da in Abraham Kawai'is Worten und tatsächlich, so fühle ich, seit ich dieses Buch gelesen habe. Ich weiß das nicht nur, ich spüre es und kann es leben.Ganz abgesehen von dem unschätzbar großen persönlichen Nutzen, den ich aus Abrahams Geschichte gezogen habe, ist sie auch ein sprachliches Vergnügen. Das Buch liest sich fast von alleine. Mitten im größten Arbeitsstress habe ich das ganze Werk in zwei Tagen durchgelesen, sogar in Englisch. Es ist flüssig und äußerst unterhaltsam geschrieben - und dennoch so tiefgründig und vielschichtig, dass ich es bestimmt noch zwei Mal lesen werde ...Ein Manifest für unsere Fähigkeit, all unsere Träume zu verwirklichen. Anhand einer wahren Geschichte, die uns liebevoll inspiriert, in Respekt und Wertschätzung miteinander zu leben, voll kreativer Energie - und mit so viel Spaß!
