Effective, affordable all-in-one kit
I am so pleased with the results from the Giani Brick Transformations kit! It is a top-notch product that has thorough instructions and all the necessary components at an affordable price. If all you want to paint is your fireplace, you will save time and money using this kit versus finding and paying for each of the components that might include more than you need. Anyone can do this project; you can't mess it up. I did the standard ratio and wiped the paint off, and these are my results. The horizontal bricks are the *tiniest* bit whiter, but I don't mind it. The instructions do say to use less paint when working horizontally because the paint will soak up faster. If I had cared that much, I could have easily gone back and added a bit more to the top OR I could probably very lightly sand/buff the bottom. It's very adaptable. It updated our traditional fireplace and lightened up the whole room. Highly recommend!

Easy and Beautiful, but Messy
I never make reviews but I love how this came out! I washed the directional video on their website and it was very easy to follow. My bricks were extremely thirsty so this project was a 1:1 ratio with no wiping. In some spots I went over twice. The paint can looks small but this project only needed 10oz so I still have plenty left over. My one warning is that this is very messy. No matter how clean you try to be you’ll be battling drips and paint splatter. I reccomend having a clean cloth to wipe the walls if you splatter paint on them to wipe it off before it dries. I definitely had to do that several times.

So easy and beautiful results
This little kit may seem simple, but it took all of the guess work out of doing it right. I worried I would not have enough paint or that it may be messy. It was so incredibly easy. It only took me a couple of hours while I was watching tv. The most challenging part is actually cleaning the fireplace before you begin. Once the brick is ready, it’s very quick and is complete within 24 hours and ready to decorate. I am including before and after. The third picture is Easter and changed the look of the entire room. I would highly recommend this over guessing all the different things you will need when you would end up spending probably more than this. I wanted a true white washed look. If you are looking for a painted look then go out and buy the paint you want, but if you want it to truly look white washed, this did it for me. I used every bit of it to achieve this. If you want something deeper, you would have to buy another kit. For context. I have a small hearth and my fireplace is approximately 5 feet across and I have low ceilings. I highly recommend this product.

Great new look!
If you're thinking about it, do it!!!! I have always loved the look of white wash but was honestly terrified to paint my fireplace. I didn't know what I would do if it went wrong. The project turned out absolutely beautiful!! Paint was easy to mix, easy to apply, and easier to wipe off to get the color that you desire!!! I am in looooovvvveeeee!!!!

Highly recommended!
I can't say enough about how much I love this product! It's rare you have something come out looking exactly like the product photos and exactly like you wanted it. I took me about 4 hours to transform the brick on our hearth. I wanted to brighten up our living room and the original oak was just too pretty to paint. This gave me the perfect alternative. I love that everything you need came included with this kit. The product was so easy to use. I just mixed 1/2 product and 1/2 water, brushed it on 7-8 bricks at a time, and then gave it quick wipe with the included rags before proceeding to the next section. Easy to use, easy clean-up, and all of the paint odor was gone by the next day. I couldn't be happier with the results! (Including BEFORE and AFTER photos.)

Works well for whatever finish you want
Edit* I would give it 6 stars if I could. Previously I mentioned that it dries matte, and I'd be worried the white would get really dirty. I was wrong, it actually cleans up really nice with a regular Clorox wipe. It is definatley more matte then shiny, but the surface is much easier to clean then I initially thought. I'm really happy with the product after living with it for a few months. ------------------------- Original review: I absolutely 100% did NOT think that tiny little can of paint would cover the whole fireplace... I was wrong... So very wrong. The paint can is only 16 oz I think. I have what I would consider a "standard" sized fireplace. I HATE red brick. I didn't want any showing through at all. I did the 2:1 ratio and didn't rub any of the paint off. I mixed the 8oz of paint with 4 oz water. I laid the first coat on very thick, and the red brick was still showing through a bit (make sure you catch your paint drips though if laying it on thick). Halfway through I was already planning on putting in another order on Amazon for a second container or paint because I was going through it so quickly. I was able to cover about 80% of the fireplace with the first 2:1 ratio. Once I ran out of the first pour, I realized that the rest of the 8oz would be way more than enough to finish the project. On the second pour I ended up doing 4oz paint 2oz water (half the reccomend amount) because I knew if I made the full 8oz it would have gone to waste. The second pour actually ended up being even a little more than I needed to finish. The second coat of paint went on a lot quicker. I ended up going over every square inch a second time. With the second coat there was no more red brick showing through at all which is exactly the look I wanted. One thing I will say, is that this is definitely more of a stain as opposed to paint. It drys matte on the brick. It's like the brick absorbs the paint into the pores. I personally like the matte look of it. However, I could see this getting absolutely trashed with coals, embers, and dirt from the fireplace. I honestly think if you are looking for pure white it's probably better to get a real primer and just paint it, if it has a bit of lacquer it would be much easier to wipe down. I NEVER use the fireplace, so I'm not worried about to soot or anything. Although I can already see I'm going to really have to keep it clean. I considered buying another paint to create a lacquered finish so it's easier to clean, but I just didn't have the energy. If you USE the fireplace and want it extra white, I would probably steer away from this product and get a shinier finish that is easier to clean/wipe. Overall, I'm impressed with the coverage of the paint and the whole kit in general. Although, I'm worried how to keep it clean. It really does finish nicely. I really like the new look. I still don't understand anyone wanting to wipe off any of the white to see the red peeking through. But I guess to each their own? I'm personally not into it. I would assume if you want more of the brick color showing and you have a "standard" size fireplace you probably wouldnt need all 8oz with a 1:1 ratio the paint goes a VERY long way since it's mixed with water. I still have 6 oz of paint left despite 2 full coats of paint. I bought a gray mantle that I was thinking about painting white, but I ended up not doing that, but I was glad to know if I wanted to, I would have had enough paint to do it Super impressed with the product.

Not bad!
First time homebuyer, my fireplace looked old and I couldn’t take it so I white washed it. Not the exact outcome it was looking for but definitely not a bad outcome. A lot of people comment on it positively, some more than once. Definitely a good kit if recommended it. Plus it comes with all the stuff you need so it’s very easy. Although I did run out at the end. So I did the same thing the kit says but with regular white paint and I don’t see a difference, in fact I’m not even sure where I finished with their pant and started with mine.

Transformation complete
I did some research as I was nervous about going ahead painting and was worried about how dark our motar/grout was. I read it's a cool white colour not warm white. Instructions where easy to follow. I cleaned bricks first and preped all the areas tapping off. I did 1:1 ratio and did 6 bricks at a time. But did grout/motar first then did the brick and again motar/grout. It was very white but I immediately began rubbing away. My bricks where very difficult due to chucks and rough surfaces it took me soild 4.5 hours just applying and then rubbing off. I found i ended up using another damp cloth and the process worked for the result I wanted. Very pleased with the results. I would recommend this product. Pack has everything you need although i did use another cloth soft cloth that got into the cracks better for my needs . I recommend testing smaller area so you can get the result you want. 16oz can covered this area 1:1 ration in hindsight I would have gone 1:2 paint to water for my effect I wanted maybe would have saved some rubbing process. But very happy brightens the space and wish I had done it sooner.

Great
Transformed what was a large block of relatively ugly brickwork into a lovely feature. Only took an hour with two people. Good product.
