You pry off the little colored cap at the bottom. It doesn't screw off just pries off. Takes a little effort, get your fingernail in crack if you can. Seems to open easier as time goes by and you open it a number of times.

How do these fit the Mucnhkin, as they appear not to habe the plastic ring like the more expensive blue ones?

I'm not sure. I got these for my friend when she had her baby...I'm not sure how universal the fit is but even if you don't use the ring they are very handy and they work great for the smells she say's.

The plastic bags are really scented and they don't allow any foul odour either. The bags are very long, which means you can accommodate upto 4-5 pampers easily.
