This Movie Grows On You
I never pay the so called "professional critics" any attention. If they tell me that I will not like a movie I go to see if they are correct. Woo was very entertaining. This is not the big blockbuster type of film it seems everyone expects. But it is funny. Everyone has experianced the "blind date" sydrone and this movie takes it to another level. Lynne with the wine and fried chicken was funny, Tommies 3 friends in the gay club was classic, and everything that could go wrong for Tommie goes wrong. Jada was very sexy, smart, and in control. Something a lot of men may not enjoy watching. And who could hate a movie with the great Billy Dee Williams making a cameo appearance? Many people hated this movie and I can not see why unless your expectations were to high to begin with. Just relax, watch it, laugh, reflect, and have a good evening. We all know Jada and Tommy can do much better in other roles. All actors can have an average film or too in their careers.

Funny throughout!
Maybe old and maybe low budget, but this movie is hilarious to me. Jada P, Tommy D, Dave C, along with supporting cast of this movie have made a classic comedy. Hop is that guy! Enjoy!!!

Jada was great in this funny comedy. I would watch it more often if it were free. I recommend watching.

Not worth the time.
This cropped up in the schedules on BBC2, and I caught it from the part where Tommy Davidson meets Jada at his apartment, and it was uber rare on UK VHS.The film seems to have a running moral message about Tommy's buddies being lecherous, but probably socially inept, towards all the 'honeys', but Woo is at times shrill and kind of rude, amongst other things, bringing a photo from Davidson's apartment to the restaurant and mocking his past taste in women. That's all okay I suppose. Also the compliments towards Smith's character on the back of the UK box cover is not an accurate depiction of how the New York Times responded to the film, because going back to the original review from the time, the film as a whole was given a pretty venomous review. Shows you can't trust quotes. What didn't help was that according to Wikipedia, the film was shot in '96 and released in '98. Smith apparently had got praise for her role in The Nutty Professor that she had done then, and it was unfortunate that that preceded the release of Woo, which could explain the perception that this character pales in comparison.I think its draws were its choice of a 90s R'n'B soundtrack including Brownstone and Nate Dogg amongst others. The 'chicken hoe' sequence might get a pass for its creativity and might make someone titter.
