Candy Gift Set (Anis, Mint, Violet)

I saw a Tiktok concerning these candies - particularly the Anise-flavored one - and it was tagged as one of the worst foods the individual had ever tried. I happen to enjoy the taste of black licorice/anise, so I decided to try these out for myself. If you're used to "curiously strong" mints or similar, you'll probably be sorely disappointed in these - the flavor is far more subtle. However, if you don't require a lozenge to punch you squarely in the nose upon inserting it in your mouth, you might be pleasantly surprised. I'll start with the anise ones - if you like that flavor, you will LOVE these mints. Not overly sweet, and not over-the-top in flavor. Just a nice, refreshing way to freshen breath. The mint ones were similar - I can't really nail down *which* mint they're referring to, but it's nevertheless a very pleasant, gentle mint that doesn't burn at all. The violet ones were the most complex of the three - I'm not normally a fan of floral flavors, but these are actually really nice as a once-in-a-while candy. The smallish tins stow easily on the cupholder of your car - use caution, as the lids do not fit snugly and will 100% dump these out into your lap if you're not careful. As for the value for the money? realistically, I can only assume the bigger part of the cost is the shipping from France to the United States. If produced domestically I would expect these to retail for no more than ~$2.50 or thereabouts each, so $20 is a stretch to pay. Yes, I'm glad that I tried them. No, I don't expect I will be buying them again.

I have always loved this brand. I love the cute containers, too! Except when I was struggling to get the metal top, to come up off of the bottom half, it’s too unmovable. It’s not able to slip off easily. It sticks and I have to jiggle it against itself to work it on off. Unfortunately this leads to friction and unequal movement and force. And like an earthquake, it jerks unexpectedly. The top flies off, the bottom jumps enough that all the little round candy jumps up and out and flies across the floor. 😮. Be aware. Remove the top when you are sitting over a table with a plate or bowl so if it pops off you don’t lose all of your delicious candy. Five stars for taste and quality and freshness. Minus one star for not making the two pieces of the metal container separate smoothly from each other. Minus five stars for the time I lost all my candy to the floor.

Many years ago I had tasted these and was pleasantly surprised to find them once again. Tasty and packaged in a beautiful, handy tin.

I bought these to show my children the magic of French violet candies. All flavors are well loved by the fam but les Violettes, amazing!!!

This Anis de Flavigny variety pack contains three of the favorite flavors––anis, mint, and violet. All of these flavors are really great. Each pastille contains an anise seed inside, which has been coated with layers of sugar and flavored. The pastilles are hard and are best appreciated by letting them melt in the mouth as the flavor comes through. The pastilles contain nothing but sugar, natural flavor, and anise seeds. A two-pastille serving is just 10 calories. The tins are beautifully crafted.
