Minuteman International Deer Cast Iron Fireback, Black

I bought this fireback so I could remove my screen and use it as a display inside my fireplace during off season. It looks high end and adds an extra touch of class to my home. It is extremely heavy and well made. The downside that seems constant with other reviews is that my box came badly damaged, especially on the corners, and the nose on the buck had some of the finish missing. It was easily rectified with a black sharpie. I suggest that the company add extra padding to the areas that protrude more on the face and corners of it. I bought the large fireback supports to hold it in place since it is being used as a display in front of the grate instead of being against the back wall. For a little more safety, I turned them backwards so that the long side of the support faces to the back of the fireplace. It leans slightly backward, but if it falls, it will fall back into the fireplace instead of forward. *Be aware that it stated not to use the supports for this fireback as they are meant to keep firebacks more upright at the back of your fireplace and not to keep the big, heavy ones from falling over. I would not use them if you have children, pets, or aren't willing to take the risk of them falling forward and damaging your home or hurting someone in a worst-case scenario*

We purchased this to help protect our outdoor fireplace. We noticed the stone was flaking a bit from the heat of the fire and after some research purchased this fireback. It is pleasant to look at and actually begins to look a little 3D once some ash and soot accumulate on it. It is very heavy and I’d estimate ½ inch think. It has stood up to some very hot fires, looks great, and is protecting the fireplace stone from direct heat. Very happy with this purchase. We expect it will stand up to a super hot fire on a frigid Wyoming evening in February!

great, heavy, really broadcasts the heat into the room. just what I was looking for.

Bought a FB on recommendation from Chimney Sweep. This one had a nice pattern that compliments our room decor. It is solid cast iron, weighs accordingly (heavy). Packaging is difficult because its so large and heavy, but could have used a little more cushioning on the design side to prevent damage. (The nose on one of the deer protrudes a bit from the surface and it had poked thru the cardboard box and was mildly scraped. But it goes in a fireplace and gets "burned" so it wasnt a big deal. Overall very happy with product and company. Protects the fireplace, gives good heat and looks great.

I love this design it's beautiful and it a great quality product it does help push out heat from my fireplace highly recommend getting the stand as well so this sits up some. Great product thank you!

Beautiful fireback but it cracked from heat exposure within 2 years after normal use. We were unable to find a customer service number or email to contact. Photo has ash on it but you can see the vertical crack.

Bought a few years ago. Increases the distance you can feel the heat on our traditional wood fireplace. Would buy again but this will last.

It went back and forth on whether to buy a fire back and then on which one we wanted. I finally ordered it, and boy am I glad I did. We love this fireback. It really makes a huge difference in the warmth in the house and it is very attractive.
