Knitting Factory Records is proud to release the next installment of the long-awaited vinyl reissues from the FELA KUTI catalog. The inimitable Erykah Badu personally selected the seven albums featured in this fourth box set, which have been remastered from their original vinyl pressings. The artwork for each album has been meticulously recreated from original album artwork, alongside vintage vinyl label artwork. This box set includes: • 7 LPs, Yellow Fever (1976), No Agreement (1977), JJD (1977), VIP (1979), Coffin for Head of State (1980), Army Arrangement (1984), and Underground System (1992). • 20-page full-color booklet featuring: seven personal essays written by Erykah Badu, seven in-depth commentaries by veteran music journalist and Afrobeat historian, Chris May; song lyrics; and never before published photos of Fela Kuti • 16x24” Poster designed by Nigerian artist Lemi Ghariokwu, the creative force behind 26 of Fela Kuti‘s album covers

Superb Collection That Will Sell Out Soon, Very Soon.
I must say, it's a drag to spend a lot of money and get warped vinyl. These days, with current demands and pressing plants largely being closed over the past twenty years scrambling to meet the crazy vinyl moment that's happen, it happens more than I'd like to admit. So when I saw others had that problem with this box it made me a little skittish considering the price. But it's Fela through the Knitting Factory so it seemed worth the risk. Long story short, it was...big time. This is a wonderful collection with many surprises (small inserts and a killer album-by-album write-up in a lovely glossy soft leaflet), and the vinyl, while it was in need a quick cleaning on arrival, everyone should do that anyway (and perhaps more often than you think if your ocd the way I am). The 180g records were NOT warped in what I received, the sound is lovely, loud, and I dare you not to dance when listening to any one of these. I had one out of seven that had the slightest bump/warp, but in no way did I feel this was a bad quality, either the physical product or the recordings. Maybe the only irksome thing was that the box isn't the slid in kind for easy access to the records. That's a bit of a PIA, but the fix for that is take each one out and individually sleeve. Otherwise, if you're a die-hard, you got to have this. It's making me shell out the cash for the previous boxes (which btw, you might consider buying two of these if you have the means since the others are all out of stock and sell between twice and four times their original prices, just saying). The last album is on in the background as I type and I've already gone to the Knitting Factory website and purchased a few more that aren't available here on Amazon. Get your dancing feet ready and bring a towel because you're going to sweat with this box set. Cheers!

I figured that If it's really as bad as it sounds I can always just return it
I was hesitant to buy based on the negative reviews that I saw, however, I figured that If it's really as bad as it sounds I can always just return it. I was pleased to find that overall the records play very well. The first disc (Yellow fever) I did have problems with on initial spin; and noticed some grit on the disc. I cleaned it with a brush, and upon second spin it played without fault.Fela is a legend. Mrs. Badu is a goddess and her selections here are outstanding.

The Music is great, the pressing is REALLY bad
Knitting Factory did an absolute rubbish job on this box. Albums were dirty, smeared, scratched, and had tons of surface noise and pops throughout. Fela’s music deserves more respect than this.

Great box.
Unlike previous comments I had no issues with any of the LPs.It is common sense that a new vinyl has to go through a good cleaning and once done the beat kick and you can enjoy the music and the extra material is a nice to have!

Not Good
Yellow Fever sounds terrible. Distortion throughout on both sides. The other disks were ok but still not great. Don't waste your money on this one.

dommage ...
