I first learned of this product due to cars being broken into for the garage door openers to enter their homes. I love the feeling knowing this is on my keys and not in my car at night! Works great, good range

UPDATE: August 5, 2024 I raise the rating to 5 stars. The battery that came with died quickly. The battery that I bought and put in has so far lasted one year. UPDATE: I bought it on April 20, 2023. Stopped working on July 11, 2023. I took it apart and tested the battery. The 3V battery was dead. I replaced it with another 3V Battery. I will watch to see how long it takes that battery to run down. The battery in my Chamberlain remote lasted for years. Maybe 10 years? The Chamberlain remote and this remote use the same numbered battery. I dropped my rating from 5 stars to 3 starts because of the difficulty in replacing the battery. If the battery needs to be replaced in less than 3 years, I will come back to this review and re-rate the remote control. ORIGINAL REVIEW The add said it worked with a purple programming button in the garage door opener. My garage door opener is about 10 years old. I opened up the control panel and saw a pink button. Some of the information I read said that button color fades. I took a gamble that my Chamberlain garage door opener had had a purple button originally. I ordered this remote control. It took 5 minutes to put the ladder up and program the two remote controls. Worked just fine. A lot of reviews complained about short battery life. I have only had the remotes two hours? I will see. There are a couple of dead spots but moving the remote control up or down or to one side or the other does the trick. But my old remote after many years was not as good. I probably made a mistake of getting a garage door with two thicknesses of steel.

I recommend these remotes especially if you don't have a car with a built-in remote

I have the Craftsman garage door opener with a PURPLE learn button on the motor unit. It was very easy to program. All you have to do is press the PURPLE learn button for ONLY A COUPLE OF SECONDS until the indicator light above/next to the button comes on. Then you press any the button on the remote that you want to use to control your door. The motor unit light will flash or will beep to confirm it programmed. Mine flashed. Now press the button you just programmed and the door should open. If not repeat the process. And repeat the process for the other remote. DO NOT HOLD THE PURPLE BUTTON FOR MORE THAN 20 SECONDS or you will have cleared the memory from your opener and you will need to reprogram ALL your remotes. If for any reason you want to clear this remote, you can not. You will need to clear the motor unit's memory and then reprogram all and any remotes you want to use on your opener. It's the same as if you lost your remote. You will need to clear unit memory and reprogram the remotes. The remote has a great range of about 80 feet. The cover slide is a bit stiff so I applied some Vaseline in the grooves and voila, it slides up and down smoothly. It protects the buttons from being pressed accidentally in your pocket or purse. The size is smaller than other remotes of similar style which made it more compact which I liked. It is more plastic than the others also but it makes it's lighter another plus. This and other similar remotes are NOT RETURNABLE. It is not in the description. You will only find out when you go through the return process. I am sure if you contact Amazon and complain, they will assist you but YMMV. So far I love this remote but time very tell if it keeps working and doesn't fall apart or break at the ring holder. And for the price of under $10 each, you can't beat it. Also, this is a keychain remote which you attach to your car and house keys. And take it with you when you leave your car. You do not want to leave your garage door opener remote in your car. People can steal it and have access into your garage and your home if your garage is attached to your house. Also if you leave your car in your driveway with the remote inside your car, burglars can get into your car and use your remote to enter your garage and home especially at night. Just a word of warning. Updated....2/7/2019. The battery died only after 2 months of use. Hopefully the original battery was old and my new battery will last for several years like my old alarm remote. It uses cr2032 battery. Deducted 1 star not for the battery but for the remote draining the battery. If you are reading this review, you can figure out how long my new battery is lasting and if the remote is actually draining the battery or the original battery was bad since i will be back updating this review again if and when my new battery dies or there are problems with the remote.

Nice little remotes, as their actually smaller than I realized they'd be but I really like the compact size after using them for a few days. The locking button cover is the main feature I bought these for as unwanted button presses always happens and I don't want someone leaving the garage door open inadvertently with a in pocket button press. Small con: the cover's lock is less strong in the up position than the down, where there's a more a solid feel to the lock, but it doesn't feel loose at all. The cover's latch is all plastic inside. The remotes CR2032 battery is accessible by removing the 3 little screws from the back cover. The battery they come with doesn't have a name I recognize, but their cheap to replace. I Included a tear down pic for anyone who's curious to see the insides.

They are small so they fit on my keychain. It took a minute to connect both of them.Easy to use & have a slide cover for the buttons so you open or shut by mistake. I have a LiftMaster Garage Door Opener that paired easily.
