Audio MJP6 6 1/2" MOJO Pro Mid-Range Speaker - Sold Individually

Preliminary review (02/24/23): I plan to run two of these in each front door in my 300, to replace the four Skar neo 6.5 "pro" speakers I currently have, each speaker getting a clean 125w RMS (and two supertweeters in each A pillar also getting 125w RMS each). The Skars have NO midbass presence at all. Like literally none. I know they are mids, not midbass, but for claiming to be able to reach down to 100hz, they suck. They get insanely loud, if I have my system cranked, not even counting my sub, you can't have a conversation with anyone within like 20 feet of the car. They actually sound quite good as well. But...unless your ONLY goal is "loud" or you run a 3-way active setup plus a sub (so tweeters, mids, midbass, and sub) the Skars are a massive letdown. Even if they could produce even moderate midbass, they cant handle rated power at those frequencies so you need to cross them over at like 150-180. So I have been looking for a good replacement but the options for an actually-decent dedicated mid that can also reach even a little bit low down...well...there really arent many options at all unless you go for really high end (like $800+ per driver) or waste money on a component set whether you need the included tweets or not. I already have decent tweeters, and they will be replaced by even-netter Sundown tweeters soon, so I dont need additional tweeters that won't fit my install even if I tried to use them. I have encountered Memphis products online in the past but have avoided them for many reasons. These though, seemed very intriguing. And they look pretty cool. Even better, they can be found for under 100 bucks each pretty regularly. So I figured I will give them a try and if they can't do rated range and power, I will return them. Well... I have only ordered two so far, will get two more if they end up working for my install. So far I have only tested one driver, getting 120ish watts RMS, using a 0.55cu/ft very-leaky-but-enclosed cardboard box, just to get a feel for what the driver can do. No crossover set, neither active nor passive, running completely full-range. I was able to crank it to max volume with NO distortion, no popping, no crunching, smelling, heat buildup, nothing. I tested using a massive number of tracks, from Jukebox Hero to Crazy Train to multiple rap songs such as Oh No, Drugs, and You And Me by Yelawolf, to more country-ish stuff like Creature by Jelly Roll and random tracks by Atlus, some rock/metal style songs like some tracks by In This Moment, etc. It performed great on all of them, handling the low low low lows like a champ (not super loud though obvs, its not a midbass and certainly not a subwoofer), covering vocals REALLY well, and even doing an almost decent job at hitting the highs to the point that you could nearly use these as full-range drivers. No joke. I did also test the driver outside of my makeshift enclosure, and that both dropped the low end response a ton (obviously) but also massively messed with the overall sound profile, mainly by destroying the vocals quality and making the sound far far too bright and tiny. This leads me to believe the driver needs a somewhat-sealed pod, or potentially just proper separation between the front and rear waves. This would also explain why some people rated them low due to being too bright or not sounding good. The pods in my doors aren't enclosed, so, we will see (hopefully this weekend) how they do and if my pods need to be sealed up. But so far, just in a crappy 0.55cu/ft cardboard box they are great. I was considering cancelling my order because after doing more research I started to doubt these would sound much better than the Skars I have that cost 80% less money. So far my hopes have been raised again, though. They can definitely hit the lows better, and have a higher sensitivity so they should be even louder (not that I need or want that). Whether they are better enough is still to be determined. hopefully I will have an update in the next 48 hours or so, and if all goes well, hopefully I will be ordering two more.

Got 4 of these babies for my Subaru Forester. Rear door speakers were so awesome, I converted them to subwoofers and they handled it!
