Lovely
Entertaining, with some unexpected adventures and interesting twists. Since one of our villains is missing, the others get to make up for it.

Mixed reaction
An A for entertaining dialogue. A C- for a plot with so many villians and plot points to keep the cast of at least 2 soap operas busy for a year. Yes, a plot must have an obstacle for dramatic tension. But this book is way over the top. And for USA entertainment trivia aficionados, there is even an instance of a devoted female collie alerting rescuers to Elizabeth having fallen into a hole and in need of help; No well, though. And no Timmy, just Lizzie.

Boring
Story had so much potential but very became slow after the kidnapping. Even Caroline's antics were rather blase in the big scheme of things. Jane and Bingley are an absolutely horrible couple.

A fan fiction variation that goes way out on a limb!
Jane Austen Fan Fiction variation to be sure! This story varied further than any variation I have read to date, but was perfectly delightful to read! So many elements: a link to royalty by one of our favorites; family members who were exiled to the northernmost lands of cold Scotland to serve a lifetime prison sentence; a couple who is wholly the soul of propriety; another couple who was not; "anticipation of marriage vows"; a beloved Aunt and Uncle who were no longer related to some loved ones; a man who was compromised into marrying a woman he did not love; a woman who left her home, by choice, and went to live (and work) in a brothel, and ultimately died there from an unmentioned STD; half-sisters who were raised as twins; and so much more. And these people were parents AND grown children. I won't say who did what. This book was so different; so great, I could not put it down. The missing 5th star is again for misspelled words, words left out all together, and confusing or inappropriate sentence structure. But I think the author Melanie Scherz is onto something here. She's written many more books in this genre and I can't wait to read them!

Lizzy comes out on top and Caroline and Mrs. Bennett get their due...Cute and fun read.
Cute read and lots of fun. Loved Sadie and the fact that Caroline was sent to Scotland. There have been several books which have shown Mrs. Bennett as a very poor mother and in this one she reminds me of many of those "women of the ton" who have no values and suffered the consequences. But she was not the issue, the issue was Mr. Bennett and his love for his daughters and the woman who was stolen from him. I enjoyed the royal part. It is nice to see Lizzy come out on top for a change. Please spare me the historical complaints about "blowby" children. English history is filled with them in both royal and lower classes. It was a part of life. I enjoyed the different twists in the plot and the robbery was a bonus. I'm sure traveling by post in those days was a risky business at best. These "what if" books are designed to be fun reads, not classics like P&P, Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, and Great Expectations. I'm just excited that so many authors are interested in tickling our fancy with different approaches for Darcy and Lizzy, in modern and classic time frames.

A Royal Bennet
I loved the novel for the fact that is was completely different from all the others I have read. First of all, there were only e Bennet daughters, a dog named Sadie was involved in the plot, there was royalty involvement, and mysterious findings of Mrs. Bennet. Although she was always plotting for her daughters to wed, the mysterious findings were of her behavior not fitting of a married woman.Darcy's love for Elizabeth grew strong and he did all in his power to protect her at all costs and to go out of his way to find her on several occasions. Naturally, Bingley did the same for Jane but not as forceful as Darcy did for Elizabeth. However, in the end of the story, Bingley did protect Jane and Elizabeth from his sisters. It was a breath of fresh air to read her novel and follow a different scenario from the original story and I appreciate the fact that she varies the plot. Bringing the dog into plot showed a different prospective. Thanks for an unusual read and I thought it delightful.

Promising
This book has an interesting take on an old plot (Elizabeth-has-connections-to-peerage/royalty). I really enjoyed it, and the characterizations and original characters were well-thought out.I kept wondering about the time line of all of the events, and I was curious as to what happened to Wickham. This is AU obviously, but I had hoped for a mention at least. What the story truly needs is a more in-depth session with an editor. There were many grammatical errors that were distracting. There were also a few anachronisms that really pulled me out of the story. I believe the term "girlfriend" was used at one point, and that's a concept that didn't develop until well after this time period.Honestly, aside from the distractions of grammar and historical accuracy, this was an enjoyable read. I'm not trying to be overly critical--just constructively so. I've read other books by the author and enjoyed those as well.

Great premise
I wanted to like it. But the formatting, or lack of formatting was incredibly distracting. The author lists an editor, but as the story progressed, it seemed that there was more and more minor mistakes. The premise was fantastic, I really liked the idea of Elizabeth being of royal blood. But there was a distinct lack of research it seemed. The author credits Wikipedia for research which did not seem to help them. (Use of Town instead of Ton, for example.) And the conclusion of all the characters by the end of the book was very disappointing.I know this is a work of fan fiction, but I expected a higher quality of presentation.By halfway through, I was ready for the story to be done, but overall I enjoyed it. I really wanted to like it more.

Elizabeth Survived
After being threatened by her mother, robbed, slapped, abducted, stabbed, shot (no sorry that was Darcy), weathering a nasty fever, falling down a sinkhole and having a large boulder fall on her, and suffering various other injuries you will all be pleased to know Elizabeth survives to marry Darcy. I do have to wonder why the author is so keen on violence. Many of the usual characters are included with some having just a token appearance plus there are a few new ones, however, although Miss Bingley is an unpleasant person I felt that in this P&P version she was like a cardboard characterisation of villainess, with her just being all bad (along with her sidekick sister), without any redeeming features at all.The story was okay I just had a general feeling of dissatisfaction. That said I did like Miss Sadie!

Sadly disappointed
Interest was piqued by other reviews but I was sadly disappointed. Terminology wasnt always correct for the era and the premise for the story and how it developed along 'Royal' lines stretchedmy belief- but I wont be a 'spoiler'. I think lots about this book could have been a stand alone novel with differently named characters and some modifications not linked to Jane Austin.

Another first class read.
I love every single one of Melanie Schertz books and this is one of her best. Perfect for Darcy fans.
