It's not the red Staples button.......
....it's not magic !!! And I think that's what many wish they could find. Someone wave a magic wand and make it all go away......PLEAAAASE !!!! I understand. Have you TRIED using his advice?? I did. I'm a middle-aged female and thought I had nothing to lose. So I phoned my creditors....most of them took my interest to zero and lowered my monthly payment to $15. Of course, this delays paying this creditor off until the next millenium....but if you're drowning in bills and need to come up for air this can be a temporary help. Another creditor gave me a 1 year "hardship" program.....interest rate zero for 6 months....then 9.99 for the following 6 (my current rate had been over THIRTY %%!!!) Only one creditor played the bad guy....suggesting I sell my home, my wedding ring, move in with my Mother and even sell the family dog. Yes, it took almost all day....lost of frustration and a sweaty ear from "holding...". But if you don't mind putting time into actually reading the book (carefully...and between the lines) and making a plan of attack, it really does work.If you don't have a debt company behind you, you'll have to deal with the phone calls and letters, etc. but most of their tricks are illegal !!! Pennsylvania and Texas have the highest laws against nasty collection agencies and I know of people who have actually MADE money suing their creditors for harrassment. (Yes, I'm serious) Each state, PA's is 4 years, has a statute of limitation on debt. Do you have a credit bill you've been paying on for over four years but not seeing it go down quickly enough?? Check into it....it may be "old" debt. I didn't believe a lot of what I read in his book so checked out some of it....and tried much of it. He's right !! I'm in debt due to increasing medical costs (I have MS and heart disease) and less insurance, and was getting angrier and angrier at the credit card companies, sitting back making BILLIONS for themselves while I chew on my lower lip and lose sleep. The last two creditors finally made me SOOOO angry I decided to sign up with Credit Solutions. It was an immediate weight off my shoulders!! Let 'em call !!! I have letters I can send telling them what they're doing is illegal and if they don't "cease verbal communication" I'll contact my lawyer. I had one collection call on Friday.....that flat, mono-tone, "pay or else" voice on the other end of the phone switched into pleasant high gear when I told her I'd sent them a letter and had the sig confirmation to prove they got it. She found it.....a hundred apologies.....and a promise that I will no longer be contacted. Much of what Kevin suggests DOES work.....no, it's not magic, but nothing is !!! I wonder if Kevin hadn't written his books....would the public know badly they've been scr*w*d as quikly as they have???

Debt Cures They Don't Want You to Read About
A lot of people have slammed this book but it saved me. I was divorced and had to go on Disability and had old debt from my ex and myself that collection agencies were hounding me about. Some of this debt was over ten years old. The credit collection people were nasty and I felt totally intimidated by them which was only making my condition worse. I did not know what to say to them. I went to a credit counseling agency to try and pay back the debt but I did not have enough money to even begin. Now, if I get a call or a letter I clutch the book and read what it says to say. Hardly any creditors bother me anymore. Also, I wish this book was around when my son went to college. They were handing out credit cards like candy. He was working his way through school and used the cards to fix his car, buy books, etc. He came out of school deeply in debt and his credit rating was ruined even before he got out into the workplace. He's been working hard for ten years now to pay back that debt and his school loans. This is a book on how to deal with credit agencies. There might be better books out there for building wealth, but if you need to get out from under a ton of old debt this is the book for you. Collection agencies will do illegal things to get you to pay for bills that have been written off by the original lender many years after the write-off. The original lender got a tax break on your debt they wrote off. These collectors bought the debt for pennies on the dollar and will squeeze you anyway they can.It is good that there is a book out there for people who have gotten themselves in a mess they can't get out from under. If you have a good job and just ran up a lot of debt then try a reputable debt consolidation company (they offer their services for free). Otherwise, this book is a good investment.

Many bad reviews are unfounded
Not sure of the bad reviews here. I ignored them and bought the book. I have only skimmed it so I can't fully comment on it yet, but it is not written like a 2nd grader. Some others commented:'I can't believe Mr. Trudeau suggest telling your debt collectors that you were a victim of "Identity Theft".'I read this chapter and he never suggested committing fraud. The example was of a person that did have identity theft. As a victim of I.T., I had no problem with this part.'He suggests keeping a journal when a collection agent calls and document them. Any Judge show should teach you this. Also isn't this common sense?'No it's not. I don't watch Jerry Springer either.'I can tell you right now that everything in that book is basic information that you can get for free on the web.'This is correct, however I am asked weekly about things that are simple to find on the web with a simple google search. People don't want to take that time! Most non-fiction can be found online. However people like to have it all together in book form. This fills that somewhat.'I'm about 90% through this book and it disbelief that I even keep reading it.'Funny that you 'put it down', but can't put it down. Nothing else needs to be said.'Would you really want to buy a book from someone who claims to be a guru of: finance, natural "cures", memory and weight loss?'Did you talk to a financial adviser 1.5 years ago? Did they tell you the market was going to tank? No. The 'experts' aren't much of any experts are they?I'm not ready to say this is the greatest book, but as you can see from a small sampling of the above neg. comments I've seen here, there are some unfounded negatives here.

Straight Forward, Easy to Understand
This book is exactly what it claims. The author hasn't said he invented any magic wand, but rather has compiled in a digestible, readable, and usable way, lots (and no claims to "all") of information that works. He also exposes some scams and traps to avoid, and anyone with debts is prone to many.
