this says it holds up to 700 pounds but in the product description it says 300. Which is it?

700# evenly distributed will probably be ok. I've had well over 400# with no issues. The rack is certainly strong enough.

Roughly how large is the box it comes shipped in? Multiple boxes maybe? I live in a rural area and need to travel a couple hours to pick it up, will I need my truck or will the box(s) fit in the back of my jeep?

Box is about 5'x2'x1'......it should fit in the Jeep. Might take some arranging but you can get it in there. Suggest taking out the back seat. It is heavy though. Truck would be better but Jeep will work.
