Self Centering Pen and Bottle Stopper Drilling Vise Ideal For Wood Turners and Can Secure Wood Acrylic or Composite Materials

I had another pen vise that was similar but different and it did not so easily resize for different blanks and did not come close to the larger size this one will accomadate this vice makes it quick and effortless, it also came with three plates to put under the blanks. I have only been using it about a month or so but it sure seems to be of good quality construction. In my opinion if you need a pen vise this is the one you want to get. I am not sure exactly how big it goes but it grabs a quite large blank even up to duck calls and bottle stoppers.

I use this for centering my pen blanks. It is easy to use and works well with the old drill press that I use. It holds the blanks securely with no issues.

The reason I like this so much is that I can align it proper and set stops and fence on my drill press and it will remain aligned for as many pen blank drillings I wish to make. After drilling, I can glue the tube into the blank, put it back in the vise and switch the drill bit for the pen milling bit/trimmer and complete trimming the blank. I did 10 blanks and had them ready to turn without having to ever realign the vise. Because blanks are seldom exactly square, I had to make sure it was placed in the vise in the same position it was originally when using the pen mill.

Incredibly sturdy pen vise. I make pens nearly every day, and it works beautifully. It can be adjusted for larger or smaller pieces of wood or resin. I have it clamped down to one of my workbenches, and just one clamp is all it needs to stay in place. If anything happens to this, i will repurchase the same item!

I love this product excellent for purpose intended. It keeps your material perfectly centered if you have it set right and you can adjust how tight it holds by the twist of a nob. You push the handle down till it is full depressed. If your just getting in to pen turning or you've been doing it for a long time the ease of use is incredible and works great. I deeply and sincerely recommend this product to you.

I will preface this by stating that I am a CAD engineer and CNC machine operator, so my definition of accuracy is a bit tighter than your average woodworker. That being said, the play in this vise leaves much to be desired. Because the anchor points for each clamping face are not linear to one another, once clamping force exceeds a rather low bar, your workpiece will shift by 2-3 degrees. This can be resolved with appropriate shimming of the guide rails. There is also moderate side to side play which needs to be shimmed to ensure a repeatable drilling. Once these issues are addressed, the vise should be more than adequate.

So far a great product, works well easy to center the blanks for drilling. My only complaint is that it came with no instructions took a little playing with to get it to clamp properly. Other then that great product

This is a well-made perfect tool for drilling pen blanks on the drill press. It centres perfectly every time.
