The kit comes with everything as described, and is all you need to get started with your first aquarium. However, the motor for the filter unit is extremely loud and there is no way to dampen the sound. The motor is so powerful you can feel the vibrations through the tank, and it distracts a fair degree from the enjoyment.

[The tank] 2-starThe tank feels very fragile, so make sure you do not move or lift up the tank when it is filled with water because you might crack it. The curved corners distort the view to the point that you can barely see the fish if it swims to the side. Even though the width of the tank is about 16" wide, you only really get 10" of clear view. About 3" on each side is very distorted because of the curved corner design.[LED Lighting] 1-starDo NOT switch through all the color mode to turn off the light because that would scary the crap out of the fish. Once you have selected the color you like, you should turn off the light by pressing and holding the button for a couple of seconds until it turns off. If you turn the light off this way it will save that light setting for when you turn it on again. [UPDATE: the light stopped working after about 6 months][Filter] 3-starThe filter is ok. It's actually very quiet when the filter media is clean and the right strength for that size tank. I placed a few larger size gravel under the filter media to elevate it by a quarter of an inch which allow water to go through a little more easy. Of course that makes the filter less efficient because it reduce the seal, but it's more quiet.[The hood] 2-starThe feeding hole is too small and there's no slide or flip up compartment. For those who want to use a separate filter or add a heater, you can cut out the slots on the hood, but it would take some effort.

Bought this about a year and half ago. First things first, the way that this tank is shaped distorts the view of the contents (decor, fish, etc) ... and makes awkward for viewing if you're not looking at it head on. Second, the filter is junk. Just absolute crap. Third, the lights came 6 million options. Blinking, fade, etc. Who the hell wants to stress their fish with a disco light show? You're better off buying a different aquarium, filter and light bar separately than buying this.

Worked for about 8 months then filter and light just stopped working. I still use the tank but I replaced the filter and light. You are better off just buying a different kit.
