Hot Wheels City Car Wash and Giant Gator

I purchased this carwash set for my 3 1/2 year old, and absolutely loved playing with this set. That said, I had to ultimately return it because he still lacked the dexterity to operate the spinner component of the carwash (the blue reservoir where the car splash lands). He enjoyed turning the water tower faucet which fills the carwash "bath" with hot water, that turns the color changer cars' color. He also enjoyed operating the turn mechanism of the yellow dryer rollers. We used the toy indoors, and yet, a minimal amount of water escaped the toy and landed on the floor, but it was so easy to clean up with just a single paper towel. The toy has a removable dish that acts as a reservoir to catch water droplets and splashes. Anyway, I had to return because at 3 1/2 my son was not yet able to utilize the spinning device which holds the icy water to change the car color yet again. This was a main feature of the toy, and instead of him doing it, I always had to do this part, and also fish out the cars as they got stuck inside of it. Not fun...so, this was a deal breaker for me though I'm sure it would not have presented any problems for a slightly older child. Anyway, I still highly recommend the toy, as it's made well, has a great concept, and is a good quality standalone toy. One additional thing to beware of though is that the Color Changer cars cost more than $15 each!!! Yes, you can use your regular Hot Wheels cars on this, but they won't all fit. The Color Changer cars are slightly shorter than the others, and that leads to them getting stuck in the cold water reservoir mentioned earlier. It's easy enough for an older child to fish these out (though it's probably frustrating), but not a younger child. Anyway, just be prepared to shell out major $$$ to build up your Color Changer car inventory!

This is a great toy until you lose the pieces but that isn’t the toys fault. It was fun and easy to put together with my son and very functional.

My son (3) received this Santa this year and the look on his face was priceless when we got exactly what he asked for! The few things to know:1. water not required (nor would I recommend it). We have not even attempted it because I cannot justify wetting cars that aren’t supposed to be. The set only came with one and it was nearly impossible to find others. So we made the decision for the kids to use their imagination! Lol2. The “icy water” area was rather challenging for my husband and I to get the cars out without some force, but with some effort and toddler energy, my son seems to have no issues! He pushes down hard and fast to get the cars to shoot out - and they do, right into the gator mouth, like the commercial.Enjoy!

This toy is super fun! Both of my boys (9 & 4) have had a blast playing with it. I was worried about it using water and was afraid it would have to be played with outside to avoid a wet mess on the floor. But, we actually have only played with it inside. They can have some fun without using the water features. But, when they want to use the water features, we just put it on the tile flood with a towel underneath and there’s not much mess. Also, I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to dry the whole thing when they were done — wipes down very quickly with a towel.
