Superb Map - Genuine OS 1:25000scale mapping, and now includes October 2016 revisions!
This map offers a very useful addition to the maps arsenal of any Lake District fell-walker, as the actual mapping is standard Ordnance Survey 1:25000 scale, and identical to that used on up-to-date, (i.e. at time of posting this review, 2016 editions), OS Explorer 1:25000 range.Where it scores very highly, is that it covers the vast majority of the Lake District - from Buttermere Village in the west, to Windermere in the east, southern shores of Coniston Water in the south, and Bassenthwaite Village in the north, - all on the one map! (See attached image - It's a double sided map, and the areas within the green lines on the image show its coverage). For anyone walking extensively in “central” Lakeland, this is a real boon, as using Ordnance Survey’s own “Explorer” series, would necessitate using four separate maps to cover the same area. (This map is exactly the same size as an OS Explorer 1:25000 scale map, both when fully open and when folded). The map is specified as being published in 2012 - which might be off-putting to those who strive to have the most up-to-date mapping to hand. However, having just purchased two copies, (one via “Book Depository”, and the other via "Books Etc.", both sellers on Amazon UK), I can confirm that both copies state "Reprinted with amendments October 2016.In fact, I have been unable to find any discrepancy between this paper map, and Bing Maps current online rendition of OS 1:25000 scale mapping, or indeed, the mapping on my latest (2016 editions) OS Explorer paper copies. – All in all a great map for the Lake District fell-walker, and well worth having!

Good if you're sticking to the easier routes.
My wife and I were having a short break in the Lakes and planned to do a few fairly straightforward walks using a book of recommended routes. The map was a back-up and tied up quite well with the small route maps in the book. It allowed us to find some of the more out-of-the-way start points but it did not really have enough detail when we took a wrong turn and were trying to get back to the proper route; I think the next scale OS map would have been better in those circumstances. The firm cover made it very difficult to fold to the size required to fit into a protective cover as - inevitably - we wanted a piece of the map that spanned an awkward area.It is a good starting point for beginners like ourselves and good value but next time I would probably buy more detailed OS ones.

Handy to have
Covered the area we visited.

Very pleasantly surprised
For the cost this is a brilliant alternative the OS Explorer maps in 25k scale. I am an Explorer fan but very happy that this is nearly as good. Lots of information for walkers contained in the map, not just footpaths. Many OS symbols present. I am confident we have all we need on this map to have a great experience wild camping.

Great walking map for the central lakes
Very similar to the OS Outdoor Leisure maps, but covering the central lake district and so potentially avoiding using two maps on a walk. Check the coverage of the area you're visiting and buy this or the appropriate OL maps ... or both. Two sided, if that matters.

These are more useful than OS maps as they show the central lakes - much better than using two maps if going between eastern and western lakes. Arrived really quickly.
