UGH!!! why did they stop making this trackball?
This was an excellent trackball and I used it daily for 7 years. It started having an issue with the left button holding the selection for a drap and drop.I would definitely buy again however it appears Logitech has stop making this one. They have others but they just do not compare.I wish they would start making them again.

We Must Evolve !
I got the mouse shoulder arm wrist thing about 1990 and the cure was the Logitech Trackman Marble Trackball. Since then I have purchased three of them and it’s been in constant daily use. I found a need for a middle button and a scroll wheel. I tried several trackballs and even a regular mouse for a while but they all had issues and paled in comparison to the Logitech Trackman Marble Trackball. I now have a love hate relationship with the {Adesso iMouse T40} mostly hate. It has all the missing features from the Logitech Trackman Marble Trackball and more but it’s way too big and badly designed to earn any accolades. I'll never understand why Logitech won't add these missing and necessary features to a version 2 of the Logitech Trackman Marble Trackball LTMT~V2. There’s plenty of room to add a scroll wheel and even middle button to this device as well as two AA batteries to make it wireless. Logitech has chosen to make thumb versions of trackballs instead. Trackballs are not for thumbs! I miss my Logitech Trackman Marble Trackball every day :-{ If the Logitech Trackman Marble Trackball ever evolves to grow a scroll wheel. I imagine it will be just past the ball at the tips of your fingers so as not to disturb the perfectly ergonomic design of this arm saving tool. Do we need to start a petition, a company, what will it take to add these much needed features to our beloved Logitech Trackman Marble Trackball? 5~STARS For the future!

Interesting to try something different.
I have never tried a trackball mouse before, but after seeing some others use it and reading from several sources about some benefits of using a trackball versus a traditional mouse, I had decided to take the plunge and pick up one of the trackman marble mouses from logitech. There was no rhyme or reason as to the model I picked up, although I did look at a couple different trackball versions, such as one from Microsoft, which apparently is no longer being made hence why it is so expensive on amazon where you can find it, and another from Logitech which is more for gaming with the trackball being where your thumb would be. I didn't pick up the gaming version of the trackball because I thought my thumb would be in pain after a little while of using only one finger and making it move so many positions. I could be wrong in my feeling, but that's just the way I felt after watching people on youtube using that particular mouse.Getting to this particular trackball mouse though, the trackman marble has been very fun to use, so to speak, in that I am relearning to use the mouse with this new method. Using the trackball is something that is not too different to be a deal breaker, but it has been quite some time since using the mouse my first time, and I am still learning to control it to a pin point degree. It's not frustrating though with learning this new kind of control. Instead, I think of it as a kind of challenge in trying something new, and it's something that may hold more benefits than using a traditional mouse given more time I spend in learning it.The mouse itself is a fine design. I control the ball with BOTH my index finger and middle finger on my right hand with my thumb controlling the left mouse button and my ring finger or lifting my middle finger off to use the right mouse button. Having two fingers on the ball seems to be a good way for me to control the mouse pointer effectively. Or at least it's what I am comfortable with at the moment. I find that the mouse is constructed well, the body is a nice, polished, grey color, and I don't seem to have any dirt or stains on it, even after the amount of time I have used it. There is the usual dust and fuzz that you will see, most likely on the ball itself, so I try to make a point of taking that off if I do see it.Would I suggest this mouse? Yes, I would, even with some of the difficulty of switching over to trackball mouse after using a conventional mouse. Are there benefits to using a trackball over a conventional? To be honest, I don't really know. I suppose my wrist and arm are feeling more loose and not strained from using the trackball, so there is a medical benefit you could point to (potentially). But are you going to become the most experienced mouser with this secret trackball while everyone else is using a normal mouse, beating everyone in FPS's, League of Legends or DOTA 2 with getting every last hit, or climbing the leaderboard in OSU? No, I highly doubt it. It's just personal preference, so if you want to give it a shot, do just that and give it a try.

Alientech? Far from it.
When I first got my package with the TrackMan Marble mouse inside, my first impression was that it looked MUCH bigger than it did here on Amazon. The whole reason I wanted to buy the TrackMan Wheel instead was the fact that its picture on Amazon made it look bigger, and that's what I was after. However, I found a review that compared the two Trackman's on YouTube which showed that the Marble is actually just as big as the Wheel. The colors aren't the same as those in the Amazon picture, check the customer images to find the right picture for it. It actually comes in attractive dark gray that suits a black keyboard and makes your computer look more modern.I got used to it in less than 24 hours, the scrolling isn't an issue at all. I am using Linux, the four buttons worked right out of the books. However, getting the scroll function - clicking on one of the small buttons and moving the trackball to scroll - to work took a while, but there's an Ubuntu community guide that clearly explains how to get it working - the Xorg config is messy, a script with the maps that's inserted into xinitrc works great. It doesn't feel cheap at all, the clicks feel right, and the ball feels wonderful. The laser warning did get me scared though. I didn't know it used laser to detect the trackball movement, I had the impression that they used the usual optical LED/CMOS combination. You can actually use your whole middle finger for right clicks. The buttons are big enough so that you can reach them with your thumb and ring finger without having to move your hand. It's pretty accurate, and works relatively well. The only complaint that I have is that it's slower than an ordinary mouse, but I can increase the pointer speed anytime I want. You will be comfortable using it in less than an hour, and you will get used to it within a day or so. I still haven't tried drawing anything in the GIMP (free Photoshop) with it, but I don't think it's going to be that bad.Pros:1- A big mouse.2- Pretty accurate.3- Doesn't feel cheap.4- Looks great - almost as if it's alien technology.5- Cheap.Cons:1- A big mouse?2- You need to clean under the trackball every 3 days or so to keep it fast, after the cleaning it becomes very fast. It becomes a bit slow like when you first got it if there's some "lint" around the three small protrusions that support the trackball.3- You may need two fingers to move the trackball well if you're nervous or if your hands are shaking - after heavy exercise.4- The laser warning discourages you from opening it to see how it works.5- The package only mentions hand support and comfort. There's no real mention of ergonomics. It's a great mouse, is big, and my wrist pain has decreased. Let's wait and see how it will feel like after a month or two from now.3 days later: This trackball is very comfortable. The issue with the speed is gone, as the trackball now moves more freely (it took a couple of days to "break it in").
