Nice book, with nice pictures and instructions. Great for beginners. Very few actual 3-D figures most of the figures are just flat. If you’re wanting to do just 3-D figures you probably want to look for a different book even though there are some great 3-D figures in here like the frog fish seahorse and hummingbird.

working on the cat last night with the help of a loom and broke my left hand sort of as I have not beaded in a while. Love the patterns and love the information. I think I have bought this book three times now. :) And I of course either give them away or donate them or have it on a shelve somewhere but the information is timeless and I wish more would consider making things like this rather than other things they do.

The beaded creations featured in this book are beautifully designed and masterfully constructed. Unfortunately, the book itself is put together less skillfully. The diagrams are not clear as to which direction the thread should pass through the beads. Beads are depicted as rectangles; confusingly, in some of the pictures, the thread direction is meant to be through the short side and in others it is through the long side, without any notation. Since round seed beads are actually used in the projects, it would have made sense to have used ovals in the diagrams rather than rectangles, which suggest tube beads, whose thread orientation relative to the long side is exactly the opposite. Also confusing is that the reader is instructed to begin beading along a center line that passes through the middle of the diagram. But being that this is peyote stitch, which alternates like bricks, it is very difficult to know what beads one is supposed to string in order to begin. It would have been helpful to have had the actual sequence of the first line of beads spelled out. The photographs show multiple attractive colorways for each animal. However, the bead selections for only one colorway are actually listed. To add to the annoyance of this, sometimes that same colorway is listed twice, on different pages! Why not list two different colorways instead of duplicating the same information? In fact, there is ample white space on the pages to have listed three or four different combinations, so why not provide all? I am excited to make these fun little creatures, but I know that in the process I am in for a lot of frustration that could have been avoided had the book designer done a better job explicating the author's excellent designs.

disclaimer: I am an intermediate beader, and can do advanced projects if the directions are really well written. This book is an intermediate book. Suzanne does it again, and this one gives me a little zoo of some of my favorite animals! Using primarily peyote stitch (with easy, well-marked drops where the piece is supossed to narrow) Each animal shown includes directions for several other color options, with one color option as the book's example, and the bead lists for other options listed but without a graph. The graphs are easy to follow, and after you've made an animal or two, you'll be able to make without seeming them You can make key chains mobiles, pendants or a simple zoo for your very favorite kid using this book. As for me, I could have gotten the value for the whole book by using the turtle pattern alone.

I'm new to this type of bead work and was pleased that this booklet features diagrams and easy to follow instructions for the patterns. Well worth the price.
