Great Little Amp! Boost Volume Nicely!
Decided to give this a try as I have recently ungraded my headphones and decided to do the same with my Amp but within reason. I was not in the market for highly overpriced units as I personally think they can only do so and don't warrant such high prices. I now use this with my new MpowH21's and it boosts the volume considerably compared to the cheaper Amp I had the XU09.My only criticism is that there is a buzzing when you switch this unit on but this does disappear straightaway as soon as you raise the volume up a few notches and your music kicks in, so this does not effect what the Amp was made for or its function. So all in all, plus points are - Lightweight, No distortion..even at higher volume levels! Bass Option, Gain Switch Option, Boosts your old iPod, Smart Phones volume considerably...I have given 5 Stars, the buzzing issue was the only down side, but not enough I feel to deduct any points from this review.Great value and performance, would recommend

It does a great job of boosting the output of quiet devices.
I bought this to boost the weak headphone output of my Fire 7 tablet so that it would be more comfortable to watch things on it while flying. I'm primarily driving a pair of Sennheiser HD 380 PRO headphones. Nothing fancy, respectable passive isolation, pretty low impedance – not hard cans to drive; the output on the tablet is just that bad. For this pretty specific task, this amplifier works a treat. The controls are straightforward. I was worried about the protruding volume knob getting turned by itself, but the knob is no larger in diameter than the thickness of the amplifier body, so it doesn't really seem to get knocked by anything. And even if it did, it's stiff enough to turn that it would probably stay in place just fine. The knurling isn't very deep, but it's better than nothing and does make the knob easier to grab (although it's not really a one-finger turn). The switches stick up enough to be easy to find by touch, but are small and stiff enough that they too don't seem likely to be knocked accidentally.I flip-flop back and forth on whether I'd prefer the input and output jacks to be on opposite ends of the unit, or if I like them both being on the same end. Ultimately, for my use-case, with the unit Velcro'd to the back of my tablet, it doesn't really matter. I've tried using the amplifier in my pocket with my phone once or twice, and it was a little less convenient, but still not a deal-breaker.The sound quality is fine. There's a little audible noise, but to my ear, it's pretty uniformly distributed; no irritating high-frequency whine correlated with electronics switching, for example. (I haven't tried using it while charging, though.) Honestly better than I was expecting for the price point. Keep in mind that I bought this as a volume booster, not to impedance-match my output with a nice pair of headphones. My intentions for this unit are not fidelity-oriented.Battery life is... I honestly don't know. I've used the unit for probably less than twenty hours, and I think I've charged it twice in the eight months I've owned it. I know it can go for at least seven or eight hours at a stretch, and that's as far as I've pushed it. Sorry!I wish it had a USB-C connector instead of USB micro-B. I hope to get many years of use out of this device, and it's going to be annoying when it's one of only (hopefully) a few micro-B devices I own a few years down the road. The review form asks me for a star-rating of the product's “Sheerness”. I don't know what “Sheerness” is, but I'm giving it four stars, because it's sheerly a decent product. I would buy it again, and recommend it to anyone who doesn't have any particularly stringent or specific requirements for a headphone amplifier.

Tiny but powerful Hi-Fi amp
I use the LIAM and DAAN HiFi Headphones amplifier to power AKG K702 headphones. The signal was coming straight off the Intel Cannon Lake PCH cAVS of my Linux computer's motherboard. The 'Line Out' and 'Front Headphone' ports both behaved about the same - exquisite quality but not quite enough power to drive those cans properly. The characteristic of the AKG K702 is that there is truly fabulous definition and near-flat response curve but like most open-backed headphones, the Bass could do with a little help. The LIAM and DAAN has solved both these issues perfectly. It has a bass-boost switch to toggle "Bass" on or off. This gives the headphones a gorgeous natural powerful sound which is more akin to good speakers. Congrats to the company, they've got it spot-on. And the output of the little amp is great. I turn the volume knob to 7, and this means I can listen with the computer's mixer volume at about the 50% mark. Signal-to-noise and fidelity are both superb. I don't know how long the internal battery would hold up, I just give it a charge every couple of days from an external usb charger, (the computer's usb port would cause a slight background twittering sound).LIAM and DAAN do not include a useful 3.5mm jack lead, only a tiny short one, so I use a half-metre Ugreen lead to connect computer Line Out to the headphone amp. Overall score for the LIAM and DAAN has to be 5/5, it's not expensive, does a fantastic job, and the unobtrusive bass boost was an unexpected bonus which I really love.

Very disappointed
I ordered this and it was a fantastic piece of kit, excellent sound, battery life and portability.Sadly it just stopped producing sound after a week.I returned it and replaced it with the same item from the same supplier, both items failed to work from out of the box.Customer service was excellent ,just a pity they all had the same fault.

Faulty, got sent a new one by the company for free
I first bought this amp and it didn't work very well. There was a very loud hiss and I got a lot of distortion. I had sent it back to amazon for a refund. Surprisingly, the company (LIAMandDAAN) sent me a new one for free. It works perfectly, no hiss and I can turn it up all the way without distortion. My music is punchy and loud. Works great for older music, Blondie, Fleetwood Mac, George Harrison, Creedence Clearwater...If this Product had worked the first time I would have happily paid the price for it. Maybe Amazon is to blame to an extent? I've bought and returned four tech parcels this month! I've been needing a few tools to help sort me for Uni. They have all been faulty. I think I'm gonna lay off of Amazon when it comes to tech products from now on. Too many issues. Luckily Amazon has there return guarantee, maybe I've just been unlucky. If you use decent headphones (mine have an impendence of 45) you shouldn't encounter any problems. If you do the amp has faults. But I respect the ethical approach the company has taken to sort out the problem. Thank you.Headphones used: Sony WH-1000M3
