Based on a 1958 lizard-camo jacket issued to the famed French Foreign Legion, this jacket has been updated to create an extremely versatile and functional jacket that performs equally well on the street or in the field.

Good Quality Jacket
I like this jacket. This jacket is loaded with pockets and feels really sturdy. The only two things that I can't rate at this time are:The life span of the jacket. Just got it and have no idea how it will hold up, but it does feel reall sturdy. The zipper in the front is only a half zipper. This is an interesting design. I am not certain if I like this or hate it and only time will tell. So far this is a great jacket and the zipper thing has been a non issue. This jacket is not lined so I would not recommend it as a stand alone jacket for temperatures below 40 if you are not moving.11 March 2013I have had this jacket for a couple of months and I can say that the half zipper does take a little getting use to but it is great for a CCW person. It does not interfere with your movement or getting to your side arm. I have had several people approach me as to where I got it and the cost. They all ended up buying one. I even had two armed security guards ask me where they could get one. This is a really good jacket.

Nice but could use a full zipper
This is a cool looking jacket with many pockets, both inside and out. It fits on the large size but that's ok. My only complaint is the zipper. Instead of making it with a half zipper, they should have used a good quality two-way zipper for those people who need to have the lower half of jacket open for access to a holster or whatever.

bad sizing
I bought all three colors in this jacket, (cayote, olive, black) The cayote and olive are perfectly sized. It took 3 orders and 2 returns to get the proper size in black. I wear a medium. The medium in black is really a small. It had short sleeves, and it was quite tight. After 3 tries, I finally got one that fit.It is a great jacket, but somone should look into the batch that the black came from. Amazon might think I'm crazy with so many returns, but I was determined to get a black in the right size. My friend is having the same problem, so you might see more of this.

Woolrich Men's Algerian Jacket Black Large Md: 44449-BK-L
Buy one size smaller!! I am 5'11 200lbs so I ordered the large thinking if anything at all it might be a little snug with my ballistic vest. However, this was not the case and it was still too big and the shoulders sagged. This is too bad because overall it seemed like a well put together jacket and had enough pockets for all of my gear. The half sipper is a good concept but it would have been nice if it zipped down a little further. Mine was shipped from LG Outdoors because of there return policy, re-stocking fee and other B.S fees I would not buy through them. Of the $83.00 I paid for this coat I was only refunded $70.86 and had to pay $10.00 to ship it back.....So what is that come to about a $23.00 loss to me. Big rip off and Amazon should discontinue using them, unless they change there policy.

Unique jacket.
My husband rarely asks for a specific item. He asked for the Algerian Field Jacket last year for Christmas. I think he has counted 24 pockets on it. He was so impressed by the black one I got him last year that I also got the brown one this year. He finds it useful if he has to carry concealed. It is stylish yet practical. He works in a cool lab and even in the summer uses it for warmth and convenience.

Good pockets & overall, couple of flaws
I wanted a light weight jacket with lots of pockets (yes, pocket fetish I suppose but I do use them) and capable of keeping me dry as I do things like rush from car to door. The good: It is comfortable, fit well, well made, and the pockets are both numerous and practical for my use. It does shed water well enough for dashes from car to door. I have not tried to stand in a rain so I cannot speak to its ability to withstand longer wettings.I bought the tan and so far it has resisted stainings. The bad: It does have a 1/2 zipper in order to facilitate quick access to weapons for those who need that. The velcro below the zipper does not hold the jacket together. Fortunately, I do not live in a world where I anticipate gun battles while, for example, going to the grocery so this feature is not needed. I fixed it by putting in a full length zipper. The jacket is built for a full length zipper to facilitate putting one in. Worked real well and I am quite satisfied.Actually, if I were to need a coat that facilitates a quick draw I believe that the market features those that have built in holsters which would do better in a higher intensity than I live in environment. Also, it lacks and needs a set of hand warmer pockets. I miss those.Bottom line - I rated it a three overall. A four (almost a 5) for quality and overall features but I knocked a star off for the zipper and (mainly) lack of hand warmer pockets. If you are looking for a good buy in this sort of jacket, this is worth looking at seriously. But beware the couple of flaws I noted.

What its supposed to be
I saw a few bad reviews of this product. What it is is a light jacket with lots of handy pockets. I carry a Ruger LCR and a tiny flashlight and no one would ever know. It is heavy duty enough...no problems with the Velcro. Its not a cold weather jacket as its unlined. I knew that when I ordered it but a sweater or light fleece under it and its comfortable at lower temps. I really dig all of the pockets and ways to secure items within the pockets. Works great and I get compliments when I wear it.
