Greatly Pleased
This is a good reference. The book sets things up in an organized way so that you can see the progression in different areas of painting as others have stated. Rubens, Jan I Brueghel, and Anthony Van Dyck appear to be covered in some depth. The book is also the right size for perusing even if it is a little weighty. You can definitely baby the spine of it with your hand and the pages will flop appropriately.

Very Useful Book
This book is very precise and easy to read as chapters are organized by period. It is also well edited that relevant pictures of painting are put in same page next to wordings for very easy and convinient references.

Good for Art History Majors
Which I am not. Too much. I donated it to the town library. They shelved it and it has been checked out.
