Good perspective
Only editing preference is I would not have quoted the young lady fully writing out the s word ; I would have written s_ _ _ or sh*t or some other way to express crude language without giving the appearance of embracing and glorifying crude language....I really liked how the author wants us to focus on the process which we can control as opposed focusing on outcomes which we can't control..not too long a read ;

A new and refreshing look at what it meas to be "in Mission"
Pete Steinke takes a new and interesting look at what it means for churches and for individuals to be "in mission." You don't have to be growing at the rate of 1000 people a month or be a mega church to be in mission. The great commission's command to "go" is more accurately translated "as you are going." It's an action oriented plan. "Go" is also "do." Some great challenges here. Steinke's "homework" is well documented and easy to read. He's a system's thinker. This book would have value for a leadship team to read together but it also has great vale\ue for the individual Christian thinking about their ongoing role in God's plan. - Jill Hasstedt, DCE

Embracing Reality with Hope
Thoughtful engagement with the world of the church as it is but emphasis goes that the way forward into God's future is to have hope in the promise and strive to become the agent of hope in. The place you are living and being the church.

Change in Churches
This book outlines a process for dealing with change in churches that combines the best of psychological data, church history, and scripture. It resonated with me, since I attend a church that currently seems to be stuck, knowing we must do something about it, but not sure how to start.

Mostly Satisfied
I like the single cup coffee maker for one person and for an occasional cup. it makes great coffee!but does not stay hot so I sometimes microwave it. Also, I have had some trouble getting the lid up to put in more water for another cup.

Surprised Me! More than I expected!
Steinke's reputation precedes him. Since I already knew what to expect, with him as a student of Murray Bowen and Ed Friedman, I expected more of the same. What I received was much more! Steinke took Friedman's concepts to a whole new level, and added the element of hope founded in the work of Jesus Christ. That makes this book well worth your time and investment in reading!

Also loved the emphasis on being in mission where you are ...
Very helpful in setting a clear course in the face of changes we have no control over. Also loved the emphasis on being in mission where you are even in a declining membership and community. Good emphasis on quality versus the numbers game of church growth and prosperity "gospel."

Good book
I recently attended a training session put on by Dr. Steinke and loved it, so I purchased his new book. While I haven't had a chance to read much yet, I know it will be a worthwhile purchase.
