How to Start a Home-based Personal Chef Business (Home-Based Business Series)

I am taking up culinary arts and operations online and this publication will allow me to seek avenues to do what I love and get paid doing it. People have to eat.

I bought this book because I was hoping to get more information about the actual process of being a personal chef. While there was some useful information regarding setting up your kitchen to go, it really didn't give me any insight into what the business itself might look like.The book had many interviews from personal chefs, but there were so many conflicting ways people handled different items that it was confusing instead of being helpful.Perhaps most disappointing was the recipes section. The recipes themselves weren't bad, but where are the packaging and reheating instructions?? These were just straight up recipes, many of them stating, "Serve immediately." How am I supposed to do that? It flies directly in the face of her stated 5x4 standard service. I know how to cook and serve food immediately. What I would think many people considering a personal chef business would need insight on is how to choose items that store and reheat well.

This book is a great resource for anyone interested in starting a food business. It covers all of the basics thoroughly by someone who has been in the business and knows what talking about. Great starter guide, gives good guidance.

It is an ok book. I gave it 4 stars because it is very well presented, but content is more or less obvious. Great buy if you have no idea whatsoever about party planning.

If you get this book it is much better as a book than a kindle. I had not realized how much of it I would want to refer back to, and, the kindle just does not give me the ease I could wish for.

This book gives you all the details you need to know to start in your personal chef business. There is a walk thru on how to even complete your business plan. I would like to see the next revision include. A cd with recipes and forms to get started with. I also bought Denise's party planning book and the knowledge I acquired from both was unbelievable.
