There's a light sensor that keeps a low-key strip of light on in the dark, and a motion sensor that triggers the main backlight (that lights up against the wall) as you approach it.This is exactly what i needed.Aesthetically, it looks pleasing enough.If it lasts a while too, then that will have ticked all my boxes.

Excellent item, leave it plugged in on landing, permanent dim light ( during hours of darkness) then bright light when it senses movement. Works brilliantly. Recommended.

Brilliant night light. Always on light glow then brightens when senses movement. Placed at top of stairs and is perfect as stays illuminated until i get to the bottom.

Easy to install, just plug it in. I have place the light in the hall which saves turning on the light for night trips to the loo, it has a back light on all the time and the main light activates as you approach it. Great little night light.
