Works great icing total knee replacement.
I had a total knee replacement surgery a little over 2 weeks ago. I've used this ice pack/wrap every day since I've been home from the hospital. I couldn't ask for a better product. With knee replacements, they start your physical therapy at home when you are just out of the hospital. Needless to say, since your knee has not yet healed, it lets you know that it isn't happy with all of the activity you must make it do. This ice wrap is heaven when you sit back and relax with it after exercises. In addition, I never dreamed how black and blue I would be at the back of my leg (since the incision is on top.) This wrap provides cooling all around the leg which is important to your comfort and pain relief. The strapping works great and keeps it positioned perfectly. I was a little nervous about the fit since I am a large person (6' tall and 290 pounds) and the repaired knee was very swollen. But it fits perfectly with even some travel left on the straps as well. My wife is due to get her knee replaced next and I'm confident this product will serve her well too.

Knee feeling heavenly
In May, 2013, I had knee replacement surgery (TKR). Since then, I've used all sorts of ice packs to relieve the swelling that occurs with daily physical therapy. Each had drawbacks.I needed a unit that would totally encompassed the knee area to cool it down. I also wanted to be able to move about, walk, or change positions if sitting without the icepack falling off. The A to P does all this.It is constructed of high quality materials, and is very comfortable to wear. It is well worth the higher cost. You get what you pay for.As stated on the instructions: It is important to not wear the wrap more than 20 minutes, to assure that the coldness does not give your skin a burn. It still has a nice chill after those 20 minutes but take it off. Your knee will feel wonderful. It takes about 2 hours to refreeze the wrap, which btw can be put in the freezer without removing the icepacks each time.Wish I had known about this wrap before purchasing the first five icepacks. On the road to recovery!

they continue to be very useful. They allow my whole knee to be chilled ...
I recently had bilateral knee replacement. I bought these prior to my surgery and, 7 weeks later, they continue to be very useful. They allow my whole knee to be chilled and they stay put. I also used ice packs at the beginning, but found them less convenient. I agree with the criticism that the inserts can be uncomfortable and it would be better if they were of a different material. I found that if I carefully fold them up before putting them back in the freezer it help keep the inserts better aligned. I have already taken them in my suitcase on two short trips - you can keep them in the freezer compartment of any in-room frig, another plus.

Not good for knee replacement - must use gel!
So this ice pack is well made and very substantial - five stars there. That said, I had knee replacement three weeks ago, and because this is solid ice-pack and not gel, it does not conform to the knee AT ALL. This is a problem. If this was gel, it would be the perfect device. But as it is small blocks of ice, it doesn’t work well. It truly would be perfect because of the way it is made and how large it is (completely encircles the leg) if they had used gel. For knee replacement, Chattanooga gelpac or something similar is superior.

The Ice Pack is fantastic. I am recovering from a recent (10 days ...
The Ice Pack is fantastic. I am recovering from a recent (10 days ago) knee replacement surgery and I have tremendous swelling on the front,. sides, and back of my knee. The A to P Ice pack encases the entire knee, covers an extensive area, and allows me to ice all three areas at the same time. It is easy to use, just take it out of the freezer, wrap the knee and ice. And I can already see and feel the results. I highly recommend this to anyone who has had the replacement surgery, it really helps.I In addition, for runners and cyclists I feel the ice pack would be perfect to relieve the normal aches and pains that come with training and would help with injury prevention.

No exchange because three days late???
I bought this just over a month ago for $79.99 to use post-op a knee replacement. I had an accident three weeks ago (after knee replacement) and according to my orthopedic surgeon, I have set back the healing and pain of the knee by about three weeks. For a few weeks I was unable to use ice on the knee because there was too much weight/pressure on the knee itself. When I began using it again yesterday I noticed that my knee did not feel cold. The knee is where one needs the ice most in the ice packs when one has had a knee replacement. We checked the small cells inside that freeze inside and many no longer held liquid. The cells right on the knee are the ones that benefit a knee replacement the most. Numerous cells were emptied of liquid.I wrote to exchange the knee wrap and it said I was three days too late to return it. I believe there should be some specific consideration for returns or replacements especially for a product used for injuries such as a knee ice pack.
