Excellent book for those that need to actually understand IBD (Crohn's Disease and or Ulcerative Colitis) and all of it's intricacies !! After all -- it is what you put into your body that matters and becomes the fuel that you run on. Sometimes a small adjustment (depending on your definition of small) and an extensive amount of research is all it takes to beat a chronic condition and become ailment free ... one day at a time !!!

Virginia and her teachings are just amazing. Her real down to earth story is enlightening and reminds us to take care of ourselves, and that you can heal yourself naturally! Brown rice and msio or drugs with horrible side effects??? Give this lifestyle a chance before dismissing as too hard to follow...it really can change your life. I no longer need major surgery fory health problem just after 2 months!

I have just received this book and have found it very informative. If we all went back to farm life then I am sure that none of the diseases of today would be around.

This is a good book with lots of information to help the crohn's patient. Unfortunately each patient is different and their bodies react differently to foods and meds. No one is alike. So fighting crohn's is a personal war that only YOU can fight by extensive research and finding the correct path for your body's health.

I identified a lot with the symptoms the author mentioned; as a Crohns colitis patient, I have dealt with a swath of medications with unfortunate side effects as well. I am skeptical of the methods, but I think it may be worth a try.

I purchased this book for a friends son. He has just been diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. I believe in doing things the Natural Way.I am hoping it will help him.

Well written and appropriate book needed for many

I thought this book would provide a diet plan that can keep the disease in remission and explain why it works.But the first 70% of the book is actually the story of the author. I mean the in depth personal story, not just the bits relevant to the management of the disease. It's written more like a novel than a self help book.The macrobiotics diet presented as the way to control the disease is claimed to work because it provides balance between Yin and Yang. Some foods are arbitrarily Yin and some foods are Yang and you need to balance them properly to allow your body to heal itself. Uhm...that's not science. While it may work, it's pretty hard to accept something based on Yin-Yang. Especially since the only evidence are the teaching of a few people.I would suggest not blindly believe what is written here. I will personally do more research on the author and read a few more books written by people who control Crohn's naturally. If their methods are similar it means that's what works and it doesn't matter if we have a good explanation for it or not.The book offers a few good insights on living with crohn's though.
