Test Automation using Microsoft Coded UI with C#: Step by Step Guide
A**.
Wouldn't purchase unless you already know the subject well.
The book is poorly edited, and the examples do not provide you all the details you require to follow along with the practice projects. The book is clearly written by people who understand the topic, but don't understand how to teach it to people who aren't as familiar with it. I would imagine if you have the knowledge required to get through this book you really don't even need it. Also it is very clear English is not the first language of the authors, which while only mildly distracting does create additional confusion when added to the general lack of clarity in the book. Chapters 8 and 11 are the worst so far. Hopefully I'll be able to do enough research to figure out what I need to do to get through the rest.

This book provides very useful insight into test automation fundamentals. Code samples given in the book help in easy learning trying out concepts quickly.

Poor quality and overpriced
The print quality of this book is atrocious. The screenshots, which are meant to reduce the need for written explanation, are fuzzy and barely legible. They form the majority of the book and of each page, so the written words often seem to be squeezed into the gaps in between.Much of the text is, as the author acknowledges, just copied from the web, where it may be freely accessed and is arguably better presented. For what original material is included, little or no effort seems to have been spent (beyond the colourful and unrepresentative front cover) on formatting the material to make it more visually pleasing and well structured so easier to digest in clear manageable chunks. There is hardly any white-space between sections or chapters, so its hard to tell where one topic stops and another starts. It seems like most effort has been spent on minimising the production and print costs. The approach of just recording an entire script and then being told how to edit it specifically to make it work when replayed doesn't work by way of explanation for me, though I am put off from try to read it any further and have sent my copy back for a refund. To my mind, it's certainly not worth the high price being asked for it compared to other IT books in that price range, let alone much cheaper ones. But some might find it suits their needs and learning style.
