This coconut opener has changed my life. Not even exaggerating! It used to terrify my when my husband would use a machete to open coconuts - plus it would make a huge mess all over my kitchen, including on the ceiling. I would have never even tried to do it myself that way. But now I can open coconuts for him!This opener is easy to use, and functions very well. I love the mat that came in the kit, it definitely makes a difference. I also love the metal straws and the pipe cleaner that goes with them! The scraper to get the meat out, not so much. A spoon is easier and more effective. But I don't care about that because the opener was what I really needed.By the way, I do notice a chemical smell on the mallet, but it is really not so bad. It is going away quickly, too. Maybe other reviewers got the tools when they were just made, but mine had sat a while and had time to stop smelling? I don't know. But I was concerned about that due to other reviews, and I am happy to say that it's not bad.All of this, plus, the package arrived early.Thanks so much for an awesome coconut kit.

There is a great youtube video of monkeys opening a coconut --ripping off the outer layer, trying to sink their teeth in, and jumping up and down as they thump it on a hard service. They do succeed in opening it, and they enjoy the inner flesh. . .but the juice all spills out. Although the monkey method includes exercise and combines entertainment with ingenuity, I wouldn't like to use it. My favorite part of the coconut is the milk. I would hate to waste it. If you are reading this, you no doubt like coconuts and know how hard they are to open. You may,, like me, find the fresh coconut delicious and the milk the nectar of the gods. But to repeat the obvious, they are hard to open. This set will come to your rescue. It is well-made and works beautifully. It is offered at a fair price for the quality. (And opening your own coconuts not only ensures freshness, but proves less expensive if you indulge often.) If eating coconuts makes you happy, having this set to ensure that you can also get the juice will delight you. I gave five stars for durability but those are awarded on the basis of conjecture. I don't see any reason I couldn't pass this set on to my grandchildren. It was also swiftly delivered, and I got a "thank you" after my purchase. Apparently this set comes from a family-owned business, and I like to support those when I can. For those of you who are not Hindu, you may be interested to know that coconuts and their milk are important in nearly every Hindu ceremony. I have been told breaking open the coconuts symbolizes shattering the ego, that the white inside symbolizes a pure mind (similar to the "eternal sunshine of the spotless mind") and that the milk symbolizes the nectar of the gods, which you can drink only after you shatter the ego,. If you think of all the rewards possible, spending a few dollars on a good coconut opener is well-worth the outlay. In India, a man with a curved sword (arival) opens the coconut for you and you can drink the milk and relax in the shade. Arivals might come in handy in a dangerous situation as well--and prevent dangerous situations--but I don't have an arival. Lacking an arival, I recommend getting this set. I will update this review after I have used the tools for awhile, so that I can give more experience-based ratings, but so far, so good. I feel more enlightened already. :-)

Now I an actually USE the coconuts growing in my yard!

I was looking for an all-in-one coconut opener and this purchase really does have everything you need! this set was really convenient! It had everything i needed to start enjoying fresh coconut water minus the coconuts. The seller really put some thought in , to include all the tools you would need to open drink and eat the coconut juice and flesh. Every piece of metal in here looks and feels very high quality so you'll never have it worry about it breaking on you. it definitely made coconut opening much faster and easier. I could probably open at least 10 coconuts with the time it takes to open 1 with the traditional knife... and you'll even get two fancy metal straws to sip through on a hot day....and even a straw cleaner. so in conclusion.. this thing is AWESOME! A+ definitely recommend !!

This set is the best for opening young coconuts. I can't believe that i did not buy this sooner. The opener is super easy to use. I opened up four coconuts in no time. The seller chose tools that are well made and easy to handle. This is a great value for the time I save cracking open coconuts. This set was put together with all the best tools to really enjoy eating fresh coconut and coconut juice.

I love coconut but I barely buy them because I don't know how to open them. I used to only buy coconuts if I travel to a tropical place because I know I can buy coconuts from local stands and the seller usually will open them for you. I saw this tool set and decided to give it a try. The first time I used this tool to open a coconut was very simple following the instructions! I love drinking fresh coconut, and ever since getting this, I no longer buy bottled coconut water. I am saving money, whilst getting the freshest coconut water.

Been buying coconuts in cases and used knives to open them. My friend told me about coconut tools on Amazon and I got this set. I didn’t use all the tools in this set, but it saved me so much work and time when I have to open a coconut. Although the rubber smells very strong even after a month, the quality of this set is very good.
