Watch Me Throw the Ball!-An Elephant and Piggie Book

Absolutely delightful, this is the funniest book my child has read.
We now have eight books from this series, and this one has to be the most laugh out loud one of the bunch(so far). Gerald is extra uptight, and Piggie is extra free spirited- to the point of gloating. A lot. When it is finally pointed out to her that what she thought(or acted as if she thought) was anything but true, she just shrugged it off and went on her merry way knowing that she had fun. And in the twist, we got to see Gerald let loose a little bit. The last two pages were a little silly, but unlike most Elephant and Piggie books, the best part was in the middle. My son was delighted reading it the very first time, he was laughing so much he almost couldn't read it. It is definitely a favorite around here. Our other favorites in the series are There is a Bird on Your Head and Should I Share My Ice Cream? A lot of reviews mention the lessons within the pages, but for us, by far, it's the humor we appreciate. My son is a reluctant reader yet he simply can't get enough of Elephant and Piggie. An added bonus is that they are engaging, while still being repetitive enough that the words stick. Also, the emotions are really clear in the expressions of the characters and the way the words are written in the bubbles. The word bubbles themselves are designed in way that finding the right tone for the sentence is very apparent, be it a simple statement, puzzling question, or the best news ever. These are hands down the best first readers we have come upon. We love Dr Seuss, but these are easily ten times better for new readers.

Love all E&P books, but this is one of our absolute favorites
We have the entire set. My kids are 4yrs & 7yrs old now. We've been reading these books since my older son was 2 or 3. The stories are solely told in word bubbles as conversations between the 2 main characters, plus a few recurring characters who stop by in some of the stories. We each choose a character to 'be' and then we read the story, which is simple sentences of easy words. I honestly believe these books were a huge factor in my older son teaching himself to read at a very early age. We routinely give E&P books as gifts, and I always keep my eye out for new ones and pre-order well in advance. It's a nice little package that comes out of the blue, and both my boys are very excited when the UPS man brings us a new E&P book that they've never seen before. Our all-time favorites are:Watch Me Throw the Ball - I love the moral of the story where the most important thing is to have a good time, even if you're not a pro.Can I Play Too? - love this one because it teaches you to think outside the box and make the most of what you have.

Awesome Book. My students and I Love It and the Others that Mo Willems have Written
I chose this rating because my first grade students loved the book. I bought this and other Elephant and Piggie books because whenever we go to the school library they are always checked out. So I bought some for my classroom library. My students check out books from my library and take them home to read. I allow three books. The school library allows one because of the number of students in our school (almost 1,000) but students cannot take them home. I believe that if you want children to read you have to have interesting and fun books to read and to listen to. As a child growing up I didn't have books to read. They were a luxury my family could not afford. But my teachers always had books to read to us and a few books that we could read in class. For most of the children I teach a book is a luxury. It is a luxury I want to share with them and their families.

Elephant and Piggie book…
This is the series my great grandson was enjoying, so I just added to it. He loves to have his mom and Dad read to him. Perfect series for a five year old.

My Son LOVES these books!!
My Son was given a Mo Williams book for his 3rd birthday.. He loved it..and laughed at the facial expressions that Elephant would make. I bought him more books, and he loves each one. My son just turned 6 these Mo Williams books are still his favorite books. Always asks me to read them to him. Still cracks up each time. They are very well written and very cute stories. The pictures are very clear and cute. Especially Elephant's expressions and what he says, makes my son laugh every time. Im using these books now to help him read, and he is reading well each time.Highly Recommend these books.. All of them.. :)

If you have any ball-lovers in your young family - this is the literature for you.
My grand nephew loves to throw a ball - he's only 1 1/2 years old and is being trained to be a pitcher - he loves the book.

Best among all children's books of age 5. Great illustrations and story line with a message.
Found this to be the best book /series for 5 year olds starting to read with little help. I found this to be best among in terms of illustrations, story line, words used, background message.

er-frischend
