Ramayana

Rajaji's Ramayana in English is an outstanding experience. We all know Ramayana but reading it as Rajaji wrote at once amazes you and purifies thought. His command of language, expression of passion, occasional commentary on Valmiki and Kamban differences and most importantly, the contextual clarifications - all one can say is the divine story pf Sri Rama, told by Valmiki and Kamban, now written in English by Sri Rajaji... Many typos have occurred when somebody created the digital version for kindle. If amazon can point me to whoever has the editable copy I am keen to make the corrections for free.

Awesome! The story is alive in its narration as it must have seemed to the fine authors who composed all the original text and verses. The lessons learned from this divine story is very relevant now! I'd recommend this as an easy read for anyone (young and old) who would like to understand Hindu mytholgy. There is definitely evidence now that suggests this story is a true one. Relics and artifacts discovered in archeological efforts bear out some of these as factual.

Easily accessible for children, but nice also for adults. The author provides interesting comments, as well, on the deeper meanings of some events in the narrative. The author tries to remain true to the spirit of Tulsidas and also Kamban. H e explains his logic in ending post Sri Rams victory rather than including Uttarakand. It is a very nice rebelling and my family enjoyed to read it aloud.

Excellent in every way

I've rated this edition of the Ramayana as excellent because the author has taken care to "catch" and portray the message of the original text. His language is evocative and yet simple to understand. Rajgopalachari has done a splendid job with this ever-popular holy hindu story. Highly recommended for all those who love a great epic! D. Ramdayal, South Africa

This is easy to understand introductory Ramayana excellent for English speaking children (some questions may need to be clarified here and there, which is easy if parents are familiar with Ramayana. Even if not, not much is lost.) Overall, excellent book.

I had read one episode of the Ramayana in a textbook and did not realize its length and scope. The ideals and practices of the characters remind me of those of early Christian ascetics. It's a great place to begin reading Indian literature. Rama is a great epic hero, too.
