Emotional Healing with Homeopathy: Treating the Effects of Trauma

Excellent for Homeopaths & Includes an excellent Emotional Materia Medica
I am currently attending the Los Angeles School of Homeopathy - and I just read this book for a school report. It is absolutely eye-opening, inspiring, and educational on how underlying, hidden emotional trauma affects every area of our lives, along with a Materia Medica of emotional remedies. This book is in no way exhaustive, and does not include long case-taking examples, however, the author lays out clear examples of emotional trauma and remedies that address it. He is an experienced, educator of Homeopathy and shares his knowledge clearly and practically.Emotional Healing with Homeopathy โ Treating the Effects of Trauma by Peter Chappell, addresses how emotional traumas, usually hidden in the subconscious, underlie multiple symptoms resulting in disease patterns. The author meticulously lays out how painful events and incidents people experience, even in the womb, result in emotional trauma. If the pain of emotional trauma is left unseen, unaddressed and untreated, it causes people to be blocked, shut down and even paralyzed in their emotions, stunting and interrupting the maturing process. Hidden, unaddressed trauma presents in a wide array of signs and symptoms. Untreated emotional trauma will sooner or later result in physical symptoms of disease. This book is about personal responses to trauma, whatever the cause, whether gross or subtle. Gross trauma is caused by known assault, brutal and evident; rape, attempted murder, the tremendous loss of love ones or property and possessions. Subtle trauma is suffered from rejection or neglectful unloving parents or caretakers acting out in passive-aggressive verbal abuse that tears away at the fabric of self-confidence. This leaves its victim confused and severely insecure or emotionally paralyzed, numb, stuck, blocked and dysfunctional. The section on womb and birth trauma is the most enlightening picture of how hidden emotional trauma cripples an individual for life. Womb and birth trauma is the foundational layer of emotional trauma. Sadly, life builds upon this trauma with more and more grief causing events. Contrasting the Allopathic hospital delivery to the natural home delivery explicitly details how offensive and unnatural medical intrusions, compound womb and birth trauma. The author shares the stages of grief and how it especially affects particular body organs, such as the lungs and chest. He describes how unshed tears result in lumps in the throat, sniffling and sinusitis ailments. Red-hot nasty looking acne can be the result of deep unresolved rage. Acute pneumonia and chronic eczema are expressions of unresolved trauma. Family traits of posture, facial expressions, body type, shape, movements, forms of speech and expressions all seem to match in family systems. Something to observe and note in the careful Homeopath seeking underlying causes of family patterns of dysfunction and illness. Present day trauma causes โrelivingโ or โre-experiencingโ of the old memories, feelings or reactions to the original trauma. The deepest inner healing intelligence of an individual attracts present day events that cause a recurrence of the original feelings in an effort to bring resolution to the core trauma. In explicitly, a girl marries her abusive father, the violently abused boy becomes the abusive father, and the sexually abused child becomes the sexual predator. And so it goes until the sufferer chooses to emerge from the protective subconscious world of denial through the compassionate skill of a trained Homeopath. One who is schooled in observation and armed with the right remedy that helps release the river of the soul and dislodges the dam of trauma, therein cleansing away the murky mud of disease causing debris. The author includes a section on the basics of classical; Dr. Hahnemann Organon based Homeopathy, along with simple guidelines of what not to do as a beginner. Also included are the priceless Emotional Materia Medica and a self-help guide for recovery from emotional suffering. I will keep this book in my library and refer to it often as I study the Art of the Cure of Homeopathy for emotional healing.

Great insights into trauma in general
I don't agree with every single one of Chappell's ideologies, but I do believe he's correct in his analysis of trauma - specifically trauma of abuse and birth trauma. He writes with great sensitivity to the suffering of others, and offers a basic materia medica that highlights more of the emotional conditions. He suggests using LM remedies in the book, so this might be confusing for people who use different potencies. Still, it's one to definitely have in your collection. May I also suggest Keith Souter's book "Homeopathy: Heart and Soul" - I think it's out of print, but you can still get a used copy. I highly recommend this one as well.I think it's important to have a wide scope of different authors but not to get too overwhelmed with their ideas and personal viewpoints. But if you buy Chappell's book only for the materia medica part and the symptom descriptions, it's worth it.

Worth every penny
Very well done, compassionate, and wise. I have used homeopathy for many years but not dabbled in the emotional side of it beyond a few remedies like Ignatia and Coffea. I knew emotional expression had an effect on the chosen remedy but had not considered them as a possible healing on a constitutional level for emotional issues. This opens up whole new rooms to explore!

The remedy profiles include useful emotional "keynotes
This book is written by a very compassionate homeopathic doctor. His focus on emotional health gave me a different and deeper way of examining my homeopathic profile. The book is clearly written and gives a basic explanation of homeopathy, common trauma patterns and then focuses on remedies and their emotional impact. The remedy profiles include useful emotional "keynotes." His focus on birth trauma was enlightening. I recommend it highly for any homeopathic library.

Without knowing too much about the subject this book might be a little confusing but stick with it because it starts to get interesting. After reading the book I started to do more research and tomorrow I'm gonna try a remedy. Of course do what the book recommends you to do and visit a homeopathy doctor.

Exciting psychology insights.
Love the psychology insights in this book. Some of which are unique. All follow a very logical process easily understood by anyone. And I find it also in accordance with other Emotion Healing modalities, and TCM - traditional Chinese medicine principles

Not exactly bedtime reading, but interesting.
I was interested in this book because it talks about the effects on the psyche of traumatic events which can be triggered at any time in an individual who hasn't managed to process fully the event in question. This applies to me. I use homeopathy for many ailments, and so this is of course of interest to me. It isn't an easy book to read, but it does have a lot of information in it, and it will be bedside dipping-in-reading for me for years, I'm sure.
