David Stark Design

The book is beautiful. While alot of the design ideas in the book are a bit over the top for the average "wannabe" event planner, many of the elements can be scaled down and made to work. I managed to do just that.This is a great book for the architect, events planner, and graphic design student. If you plan to go into the hotel and catering business, you might want to have a copy for your reference materials. The events featured in the book are very large scale and quite obviously in the half million to over a million dollar budget. Most of the events are large corporate fundraisers, so this book is not for everybody. Buy it anyway- it is a really nice reference book and it will look good on your coffee table.I am so glad I bought the book. It is a keeper.

Gah! David is SUCH a genious! I bought this in hopes of finding some inspiration for planning my wedding last year. I'm glad I did. The book is a beauty to behold. Someday, I hope to get invited to a fancy party that he designs. Mr. Stark, if you're reading this...throw me on a guest list...I'll make the trip! lol If I ever get rich, I know who I'm hiring to design my space. LOVE IT.

This book is good for the advanced event planner and for those who work with contemporary and high end clients or events. Very well written and great ideas for those who are not that creative. Good source book for design or art students.

Unfortunately I receive a different book than the one in the picture. I already had Art of the Party but that is what I received. The book was in good condition though.

This book makes you just want to go out and have a party (or two) for no particular reason at all! Each beautiful photograph is layered with details and ideas. David's designs are amazingly unique & wildly creative...and so is this book! Now if I can just figure out how to get invited to one (or two) of his events!

Highlights of his great design, but definitely Clinoque Champagne on a Coors Light budget... lol.

I was expecting the WOW factor, but didn't see it. I have 2 of his books and was excited to add another to the collection. Unfortunately, I'm returning it.

Kind of chaotic organization, a little like looking at graffiti, but not unlikable. Good ideas, cool thinking.

A nice picture book of David starks set designs for events in situ. My only criticism is that I would have liked to have seen images or read about the process from concept to final design and feedback from the clients would have been interesting. I've worked making props for events companies and have decorated clubs for one off events and bought this for a friend who is just starting out in that world. It's a good starting point image wise but not as inspirational as say the work of Simon costin.
