BLACK+DECKER 4-Slice Toaster, Stainless Steel, TR4900SSD

So far this toaster is has performed as expected. Also, it is attractive sitting on my counter. Very pleased so far with my purchase as this toaster performs as good or better than more expensive toasters I have had in the past.

Toaster was packaged well. We've owned one for 5 years and its still going strong. Toasts bread evenly and works well. This was a gift.

The toaster is nice, but it is somewhat light weight compared to our prior toaster. Does a good job of toasting evenly and you can add a frozen item, it has a special button for frozen items.

Nice and shiny, oversized slots, pops toast up higher for easy removal. Got 4 stars because for a week it smelt when it was used. Run it outside for a bit till the snell disappears.

We got this toaster after having had one for 20 years. Even though this is just a toaster, we had a bit of trepidation in getting a new one. He get used to the quirks of a 20-year-old toaster. Holding it down a little longer, knowing when to pull it back up because the dial doesn't work as well as it used to, etc. I was a little concerned after I read some of the reviews about the way that it browns the toast evenly unevenly not at all etc. However, it works like a charm. We have used this for naan and toast bread so far. Even oversized bread like rye works in here very well. On ours, it seems like there is a little bit of a point between not getting enough browning and getting too much. But once you know where that is, you can adjust it the way that you want to. I really like the the cancel button in case you've done something. With my old toaster I had to flip it up and work with it that way. This time I just press a button and everything is swell. It is a very substantial machine. I don't mind as some reviewers have pointed out that the crumb catcher is in the back. I don't leave my toaster out on the countertop anyway so the look of it didn't really matter. It's more the function. If you don't want to spend a lot on a toaster, buy this one. We had bought a Frigidaire retro looking one before this one, and we had to return it because it didn't work. So kudos to these people for actually building something that works out of the box.

The best thing about this, in my opinion, is that each side has its own setting for toast and it's NOT digitized. It has real knobs so I can choose a setting between the main number settings. If I want to set my toast just a smidge past level 5, I can do it and the machine won't stop me. It does leave grill marks on the toast, so if you want your toast 100% even, perhaps this isn't the way to go. It looks pretty, and it doesn't bother me at all. I find that when the bread toasts, both sides get toasted and the inside stays slightly soft (depending on how high the setting is of course). High settings get it various levels of crispiness, losing that soft center. My son makes his toast a perfect golden brown and he remembers the setting he needs to achieve that every time. There's a bagel setting for toasting bagels. It toasts one side of your bagel and not the other. So when you slice a bagel, it will toast only the sliced side, or only the rounded side, depending how you decide to put your bagel in. In my house, we much prefer a completely toasted bagel, so after the first few days, we stopped using this function. The function works well, we just don't care for it. We make toast in our house at least once a day, and it took about a week for the new appliance chemical smell dissipated entirely. I think that's reasonable. The crumb trays open from the back, which is fairly common in toasters. It also has an emergency POP button that you can push if you need to eject your toast in a hurry. There is one on both sides of the toaster, to eject each side as needed. The button is located in the center of the setting knob, so some may miss it if they're not searching for it. Overall, I'm very satisfied. We've been using it for about a month (I think?), and we've used it pretty hard without any issues. I should also say, I hesitated to buy this toaster because of the chrome/stainless steel finish to it. I really can't stand wiping fingerprints all the time. But actually, I find I really don't have to buff it much at all. I wipe it down sometimes because we use it a lot, but never for fingerprints. I really like this toaster! It's simple, looks nice, and I can choose the exact setting I want. Five stars for sure.

Bought a fancy toaster and it broke in a few weeks. This is a quality toaster wide enough for bagels and it toasts well. I recommend. You can depend on it for breakfast.

Les commandes sont simples à utiliser, avec plusieurs niveaux de brunissage, une fonction décongélation bien pratique, et un mode bagel qui chauffe d’un seul côté. Les fentes sont assez larges pour différents types de pain, et les leviers sont solides et faciles à manipuler. Le design en acier inoxydable est sobre et moderne, il s’intègre bien dans la cuisine. Et le nettoyage est facile grâce aux deux tiroirs ramasse-miettes. Très bon rapport qualité-prix pour un usage quotidien. Je le recommande sans hésitation à ceux qui ont besoin d’un grille-pain fiable et spacieux pour toute la famille.

Simply wanted a toaster that was 4 slice and focused on even toasting not any other fancy bells and whistles. After reading review this one fit the bill. Got it for a great price, and when it arrived I was skeptical. From a build perspective it seemed fragile with the thin metal skin, but then again ... it's a toaster. Once put in use we found it to be a great toaster --- we get even toasting and after a couple tries have the dials down pat to where we like it and figured out bagel setting. That's all we use it for .. not for warming stuff or anything outside toasting. For that it works fine, has all the features we wanted/needed, and looks OK to boot. Longevity ... we will see.

I was looking for an affordable four slice toaster and when I found this one from the Amazon Warehouse I jumped and I couldn’t be happier.

This thing gets hot. Really hot. Like, hot enough to burn your finger tips clean off. This seems... dangerous. The bagel button? Useless. On my old toaster, pressing it would turn off the inner elements so only the outside got toasted. On this one, it just glows blue. Maybe it's defective, maybe it's just poorly designed. Also, the inner elements appear to run at maybe 20% power compared to the outer ones. I didn't even bother toasting anything once I saw that — it was clearly going to be uneven. It looks great, but functionally, it's a miss. This thing desperately needs side vents and better quality control. If you buy this — which I don't recommend — you might want to pick up a bottle of aloe and possibly a fire extinguisher to go with it.
