Excellent monster movie.
This Norwegian monster movie is really well done. It has humor, scares, beautiful landscapes, great special effects, and good writing. The actors are good. I generally don't like "found footage" type movies, but this is very well done. Two reasons I didn't go with five stars. My copy was in the PAL system, not NTSC as used in North America, and my DVD would not recognize it. I had to connect my MacBook to the TV to play it. I don't know if an NTSC version is available. The other reason is the native language is Norwegian. You can play it in Norwegian and read the subtitles, or you can play it in overdubbed English. I tried both. I don't think the overdub is excellent. The sound of the English speakers doesn't match the intensity of the action. And when you play it in Norwegian, there is a lot of dialog and you miss the action and performances because you're busy reading subtitles. However, pick your method and go with it because this is a pretty good movie.

One of the most underrated epic movies today.
I first watched this film ten years ago and my love for it has ever since been captivated. I'm American and recently got to share this film with others through a watch party and my friends from around the world enjoyed the entire ride! While some of the graphics may not hold up to today's standards, at least in all the dark scenes you can still see the characters and locations, an element that seems to bewilder directors and digital artists today. I don't mean to take a jab at today's movies, because Trollhunter is absolutely comparable to even some of the current mythical magical adventure stories we have today. What sets this movie apart is its well envisioned documentary style screen presence, as one of my UK friends said, "I know this isn't real, but it feels like it is!" That's one of the tantalizing aspects about this film - you want to believe what lies in the caves, what shakes the trees in the distance, what howls beckon from the mountain tops, is all very real. Of course there are people who would try to cover up any and all stories about a Trollhunter, and that's what makes this movie all the more, without any doubt, spectacular. In my review, mentioning nationalities is somewhat relevant, as this film just gets you thinking beyond borders and more about how just old this Earth really is. This film portrays a type of ancient thought provoking feeling in part because of its beautiful vast mountainscapes so you can't help but wonder what's out there wandering around on this globe. Is it causing chaos? Is it really a myth? Are humans capable of working together to solve the problem? Or, will worlds continue to collide with powerful mystical uncertainty? Well, Trollhunter can't answer these questions for us either, but it certainly demonstrates the sheer awe and fright of what could be lurking out there! (Spoiler alert: what a cliffhanger!)

Surprisingly good!
I've been studying Norwegian since October of 2022 and gave this movie a watch early on in my studies as a taste of how the language was spoken in real time. This movie seemed like it would've been so silly, but it was actually very good! I would definitely watch it again!

Looks so real!
This movie might be 13 years ago which I found yesterday to watch while recuperating from sickness. At first, I thought it's another big-foot hunting kind of joke series here in the US in which I am not enticed to watch. But this Troll Hunter is such a fun mockumentary film based in Norway. The actors are unlike Hollywood with all the make-ups and vanities....so casual and real. And the Trolls?! man! it's funny! especially the scenes in the cave where they fart!We saw the movie Trolls which recently released, and of course, it's Hollywood movie. And it makes you wonder, what if the Trolls really do exist! It was fun to watch, but this Troll Hunter is more exciting because the way they hold the camera , like the way you would hold the camera if you were in such a situation! Low-budget film making, yet they created an exciting, thought-provoking movie. You should watch it!

An outstanding folklore Horror Story.
This film hit all the marks and was terrifically engaging. It was easy to slide into it as the viewer is pulled along into an unusual world that we had no idea could exist. It does exist in a plausible fashion and that makes it fun to watch. The special effects of surprisingly good and the production quality is exceptional. Very glad to own this and the transfers perfect

What a fun film!
Take the best Roger Corman film you have ever seen, give it a good writer, producer, director, add a dollop of Blair Witch, a dash of Viking metal and then bring it into the twenty-first century. What's not to love?

This is going to be a short & sweet review. This was good fun, virtually zero politics (YEEHAW!!!!) and we finished it with a feeling similar to when movies were a storytelling medium made with you as a natural born human in mind, as opposed to the self righteous, morally tyrannical, subtly dictatorial, finger wagging lefty wanque that has invaded every form of human expression. This is fun, watch it and see if we're right.

This one will take you by surprise
Despite it being dubbed in English, this is a great movie! Gritty, good pacing, well acted, interesting story. Has become one of my favorite films.

A found footage movie that sets the bar so high it will never be concurred.
Troll Hunter to me is everything a found footage movie should be. From amazing story to brilliant special effects and using your environment to its full potential. The Blair Witch Project may have set the genre off to new heights but Troll Hunter is where it ends, nothing will match it because this movie has perfected it and polished it beyond anything i could of ever imagined. From folklore to using power lines in its final act it's a thing of beauty. I first heard about this from a trailer i saw on YouTube and soon after it was released on DVD and Blu-Ray,i bought my first copy as soon as humanly possibly without watching it because i had a feeling it was going to be great,i just didn't know how great. Trust me when i say that Troll Hunter should not be missed, weather it be the dubbed or subtitled both versions are just as good as each other

an excellent original film
well for anyone reading this & hasn't seen this film, take it from me its EXCELLENT!!for a none main stream production film, the effort put into making the film, the CGI etc its above expectations.. I'm surprised other troll moves haven't came about using the CGI technology used.yes its not in English (there is a English version found on this DVD) I've not watched it as yet to see whats that's like, I've happily watched the original version with subtitles "that itself brings the film alive"this is a low budget HUGE movie result style of film, similar to dog soldiers as that's also an excellent film (however british made etc)anyway, I'll not spoil the plot, go buy it & enjoy

A very much different suspense/fantasy ish movie that was surprisingly good as the movie progressed.
I wasn't expecting too much from this movie after seeing the trailer, but read a review which was quite supportive of the movie, and so decided to give it a watch. The film actually starts very slowly and is almost one of those films that seems to be from the perspective of a camera being carried by someone in the movie (Cloverfield springs to mind), but as the film progresses, the pace and scale quickly improve. The film was subtitled, which I don't mind too much, and as a movie I would say a cross between a thriller/suspense and fantasy, rather than horror. When I got to the end I sat back and reflected with my partner that the film was different to the mainstream films, and as such was very engaging, and easily watchable again.

need more films like this
Put away your brains for a moment and tune into this, a film about trolls and a troll hunter filmed in Blair Witch style by some `documentary' makers. The landscape is beautiful showing the amazing views that Norway has to offer which here is filled with trolls thanks to some amazing CG which makes them look good and injects them with a tremendous amount of character. The locations are jaw dropping and lend significant weight to the films atmosphere. I mean this film would have been stupid if based in the usual American city and sewers surroundings (just look at the awful American Godzilla)The Troll hunter is nicely detached at all times giving a sense of the lonely character that is required to hunt trolls for a living and seeing his character tussle with a troll in his original Iron Man type armour is quite a joy to watch in all its nonchalant feel. Through him we are shown the sadness of the troll hunter and his burden that requires him to kill these magnificent creatures (that don't actually exist)At the end of the day it is a film about Troll hunting, which in all honesty is all you really need to make a decision as to whether this film is for you. If you need more perhaps the film really isn't for you because you are unlikely to be moved by the films dealings with the hidden depths to being a troll hunter; which perhaps sounds ridiculous on paper but trust me it makes sense when you watch the film.Fantastic films like this don't come along very often so make sure you see this one. Also check out the band Kvelertak who provide the song at the end it is scuzzy rock n roll at its best.

Lets go Troll Hunting!
I saw the Trailers. I saw the hype. every banner and TV ad were saying the same thing about Troll Hunter. "GO SEE IT", "10/10", "AMAZING". I thought, well they like it and its got Trolls in it.. Okay lets have a butchers!I read up on it first so I totally knew the film was Norwegian with subtitles and was a cam-corder documentary style film. So I was prepared. I was expecting Cloverfield meets the blair witch in Norwegian! So what happens is, 3 students are making a documentary about Cow poaching in the forest regions of Norway. They find the suspected cow poacher and decide to follow him to see what he gets up to every night. They get a hell of a lot more than cow poaching! They learn that this man hunts "Trolls"! from what he tells them. Non-believing, they follow him anyway as he agrees to let them film him hunting these so called trolls. From here on out its all good with Roaring huge monsters and thrills n spills. You get to see a lot of Troll footage and each Troll encounter is different and more eye opening than the last. Especially the Films Finale! Now that's a troll! There are really good moments when the camera man runs with his camera jogging it around and shaking it all over the place before quickly looking back with it to catch an eye full of a massive troll chasing him! very scarily good.A film that gets you thinking about Norwegian cover up politics. Do Trolls really exist?.......... lol. whatever you choose to believe, you will enjoy this film if you are into monsters and frights. Its not a hugely scary film but has its nervy moments.I will admit... I wanted to be a troll hunter for a day after watching this..... :P.
