A100X 100X (Oil) Achromatic Microscope Objective

We recently acquired an old Olympus BH-2 scope for our lab that came with a couple dud objectives. We grabbed a couple of these AmScope objectives just so we can get it up and running in the short term. This 100x lens works just fine with it. Threaded right in without issue, doesn't interfere with the turning the nosepiece, and produces a decent image. Now, it is very distinctly a Cheap lens. The field flatness isn't great, you can focus roughly 2/3rds of the field at a time. It's also not Exactly parfocal with the other lenses, so it requires a bit of twiddling of the knob to clear up. But for the price it will absolutely do what we need it to do for now, and we're happy as can be. And lastly a note on shipping. It was sent in a plastic tube, with the lens screwed into a retaining ring in the cap. Nice idea. Unfortunately the tube wasn't closed correctly so the lens was at an angle in the tube, potentially a risk for damage in shipping (we didn't have any, but its possible). The tube was also just shipped in a bubble mailer, and had been roughed up a bit, so had some cracks in the plastic. But it was still intact, so all's well that ends well I suppose.

ll seems to be working fine even though the plastic case cracked at some point in transport.

Despite the good packing, the objective lens was too dirty to use until it was cleaned -- not particularly hard to do if you are careful. Otherwise it was a trouble-free order for a quality product. The low power and wide field adds a lot to the usefulness of my hobby-grade microscope. The optical quality seems very good and I expect this lens will get a lot of use. I already have a 4X objective. It's well worth the investment and I'm happy with the purchase. The milling and finish look good, but there was no country of origin shown on the lens or packing. --John

After testing, I can confirm the following: this product is a good purchase for any microscope that can use it properly. 10/10 The value for it is seemingly for a lifetime.

Does not work with reflected light. Completely washed out with any light at all from the top side. It’s ok for transmitted

Product is shipped as shown. It has a standard thread and fits perfectly into my Celestron Microscope. I am a novice with microscopes and apparently the objective lenses are generally the same length to make focussing easier as you switch up to higher magnifications. This objective is much longer than the ones fitted as standard on the Celestron microscope so you need to practice getting focus without being anywhere near the correct focal distance. I also did not have any objective oil handy so I used Olive Oil instead. None the less once the correct focus had been obtained I was really impressed with the image quality, and relieved that this 'expensive' lens worked on my Celestron! I expect that when I use the correct oil I will be more impressed. I managed to take a good photo of a human sperm (AmScope prepared slide) which measures about 2.5um across. There was no visible distortion across the field of view. I recommend this product, it is quite heavy and good quality.

This is what I need for my microscope if you don’t want to not use the oil lens.

100x has excellent imaging quality for malarial parasites and bacteria visualization. Fits well to ordinary microscope. Authentic Olympus product
