Does anyone have recommendations on size and types of screws to use? Thank you.

We recommend 1/4" diameter deck screws in whatever length best suits your mounting needs. 2 inch screws will work in anything 3/4 inch thickness and above. Please always feel free to call us with questions 208-704-0291

Can these be painted?

We don't recommend painting the holds.

Are these a smooth plastic or a more grippy material?

They are more grippy. Think much better quality holds than your standard rock climbing center colored grips that are plastic. The material feels much more like rock than anything I've tried before. Your hands don't slip like plastic.
