This thing is a beast
This saved me A LOT of time in shredding papers. It is QUIET and can give a nice long run time if you have a lot to shred. It does fill up the container quickly but it was what I was expecting and I use the shredded paper for my guinea pigs bedding and it works great. I tested the limit a few times and the machine did not sound strained at all, it is pricey but I think I will be using this for years and it is far better than going through a lot of the cheaper units and putting up with the noise those things put out.

What a great deal! As described and works wonderfully!
I had ordered the same Amazon Warehouse Deal just prior to this one and it arrived defective and was described as new, however it looked used and had rub/wear marks where the shredder had been worn. It also was missing the protective plastic bag over it, so it was very dusty/dirty and last but not least... It was DEFECTIVE! Would not power up. So, I went ahead and decided to give it another try after returning that purchase. This one that arrived was AS DESCRIBED BY AMAZON WAREHOUSE DEALS! And it was in EXCELLENT CONDITION! I was so happy to have gotten a much better price and deal than the first purchase. It was in perfectly LIKE NEW CONDITION! I'd purchase again in spite of the first issue. Amazon made it right with me and I couldn't be happier with the unit! Thank you!

The Bin for This Shredder Is Made of Cardboard
You cannot tell this from a cursory review of the product features, but the bin for the shreds is made out of cardboard and it began coming apart a week after we started using this product. The shredder seems like a wonderful shredder overall--quiet and safe and efficient. But, the fact that the bin is made out of cardboard, and the fact that it started coming apart immediately, is an extremely problematic feature of this product.

So far so good
I had to finally replace my German made unit and was sad to learn that I couldn’t find one made in Germany or the USA, at least without spending a ton of money. I didn’t like the fact this was made in China, I try to boycott China made things but it’s getting tougher. This unit works well for my purpose so far, time will tell more about longevity. The only part that could have been better was the catch bin, it is made of corrugated plastic. Not sure how long that will last before it comes apart.

Just right for my needs at my home study..
I bought it to replace a less powerful shredder which was slow and gave me constant problems. While by far not a heavy piece of office equipment (those are bulkier and cost a lot more money) this Fellowes machine has ample power to handle my daily needs - it doesn't heat up that easily and works quite fast. I seem to have found exactly what I needed.

WORKHORSE
This is a great shredder. It will easily power through the capacity advertised. So many non-industrial shredders sound like they are laboring toward their last breath. This is a strip-cut, as opposed to the "cross-cut" variety. I have the same shredder in another office that is the cross-cut unit. Fellowes 3312501 Powershred 125Ci 18 Sheet Cross-Cut Shredder They both work equally well, but this one (the strip-cut) is much quieter. The advantage of the noisier cross-cut is the shredded paper lays down in the bin better and thus has to be emptied less often. The disadvantage of the cross-cut (other than the noise) is how easy it is to get confetti spread about the office when trying to empty the bin. So I'm a bit of a klutz, but still...I really like both shredders.

The Perfect Shredder
I love this shredder. I wanted a larger and more powerful one than the cheapy models you get at the office stores. I went through three of those in 10 years and thought an investment in a business version would be worth it. I also only wanted a strip-cut shredder and there are not many options these days. No crook is going to spend the time to piece strips together; the effort and time that would take way exceeds the gain when they can find someone else to rip off. And slow, noisy, messy cross-cut units are for disturbingly paranoid people. I HATE the confetti mess that cross-cut shredders make. Have fun vacuuming that stuff out of carpet. This is so easy to pull out and dispose of (I use it for fire starting). The size is just right for home/study placement. It looks nice in my living room and holds a good amount without being overwhelmingly large like some of these commercial units can be. I also love that I can drop thick unopened mail right in.

This shredder cuts into fairly large strips so if you want a shredder for high security shredding this is not the product. It is quiet and runs well however stops when the shreds touch the top inside the bin. I am always having to squash down the shreds to keep it going.
