I never liked using thimbles before this product
I had a big project recently that required a lot of hand sewing, so I knew I needed to protect my fingers. Unfortunately, I've never liked any metal thimbles I've tried, even when sized correctly or using adjustable ring styles. These, however, have been excellent. they have a gap for your nail to slip through so you don't get that uncomfortable pressure that some closed tip metal thimbles can cause. They feel protective without feeling cumbersome. The mediums were just a little bit too big to not slip around on my finger, but this was easily fixed by rubbing a bit of soft bees wax inside to give it some friction. I would recommend either getting a size smaller than you might usually think you'd need (the leather can stretch as you wear them in), or go into it knowing you might have to make some small modifications for customization. My family likes these so much, for sewing and leather work, that we have at least 4 around the house. We've added little string tethers so that it is easier to keep on the finger, or keep track of when not in use. And I will absolutely be buying more of these in the future, as needed.

Random sizes in "Medium" 3-pack package, meaning some are not useable for me
I have loved the leather Nimble Thimble since I found them many, many years ago. However, I noticed a marked difference in quality in the product when I bought them a couple of years ago. What used to be a decently thick, all leather thimble (with a metal fingertip, of course) that really protected my finger had changed to a much thinner leather thimble with a woven interior and spotty 'glue' holding the open fingertip edges together, which a needle eye easily pokes through. Still, I loved the thimble's fit around my long nails and the metal fingertip protector.I was very disappointed in the two 3-packs of "MEDIUM" thimbles I just bought (mid-November 2019). They appear to be randomly selected thimble sizes thrown into a package. Of the 6 thimbles I received, 3 of them are actually a Medium size and fit my finger. Two other thimbles were large, and are only useable if I wear a band-aid on my finger under the thimble, or rip the thimble apart and re-glue it to make it a different size. The last thimble is extra small and doesn't fit any of my 'sewing' fingers and is therefore unusable to me. The non-Medium sized thimbles were not all in one package.Sadly, quality and quality control seem to continue going down hill with this product. :( I wish another sewing notion company would buy the patent and make them like they used to be 5 years ago, or so.(BTW - I actually ordered 3 3-packs of thimbles at the same time in November. 2 packages arrived on time, the last package was lost in route somehow. Why the 3rd pack wasn't packed with the other 2 is beyond comprehension. Another example of poor quality.)

Extremely Inconsistent Quality
I’ve been purchasing this leather thimble for years as an alternative to metal thimbles. While I choose them for the comfort, unfortunately the construction, quality of materials, and sizing is often inconsistent. This thimble shown was new out of the package - the leather material was thin to the point that my finger was pierced numerous times by my needle, and with just one use, in less than two hour’s stitching time it completely fell apart. Be aware that if you purchase this thimble you may get lucky and the quality will be ok, but chances are it won’t.

Good, but not great.
I knit. I like to keep several of these on hand for my knit in public project. It’s not my favorite leather thimble, but it’s replacable if I lose it. I’ve gone through several of these, mostly from wearing them out. I can’t say it’s a bad product, just that knitting isn’t the intended purpose for which it was designed and it shows. What happens is this: as I knit and continuously push the needle through with my finger, the metal tip of the knitting needle makes contact with the little metal disk that is in between the leather layers. Eventually the pressure loosens the layers and the metal works through then the whole thimble starts to come apart. Again, the thimble is not made for knitting, so I can’t complain. Btw, if you have long fingernails this thimble has a slit for your nail in theappropriate place. It is very a comfortable thimble while it holds up.

Functional leather thimble
I think I've gotten a different brand before. The little metal piece in the end of this one seems to be smaller around and less thick, and is not glued in as well as the ones I've had previously. But, it will work well enough, for a while. My fingers are chunky, and I probably should have gotten the size large, as this is a bit more snug than I expected (again, different brand from what I've bought before.)

The item arrived quickly and in good condition
The fit and the extra padded tip are a must.
