Made from a combination of our premium full-grain leather and 1000 Denier nylon, this upper is extremely durable. 100% waterproof and breathable, GORE-TEX liners ensure that no water gets in, while allowing sweat and moisture to get out. Our special hardware allows you to tighten from toe to top with one swift tug for a secure, tight fit. We use a flexible snake protection fabric in between the liner and exterior of the boot to give you complete snake protection from the bottom of your foot to the top of the boot. At Danner, they are craftsmen. They pay attention to details. They forgo quantity for quality, with the knowledge that the boots they craft are no better than the hands that create them.

Look promising, but need breaking in and a little preventive maintenance.
I bought my regular shoe size, 12, and the boots fit well. They're surprisingly light, considering their size and the toughness of the leather. I've barely worn mine, since they definitely need breaking in around the ankle, as other reviewers have said. I found it too painful to break them in by wearing them, so I've put a round mayonnaise jar in the ankle section of each boot to expand it--another reviewer uses softballs. The circumference of the jars is about the same as the circumference of my ankles--don't want to over-expand the boot. The zippers are stiff, also as other reviewers have commented, and I can easily see someone breaking one if they get impatient. I applied warmed beeswax to the zippers, then worked them quickly in small increments. I used too much wax and jammed the zippers, so I heated them with a hair dryer, worked them until they were free, and wiped off the excess with my fingernail and a sponge.

Terrific Boot
I wanted a snake proof boot for work that I do in the desert of northern Nevada but I was concerned that such a high top boot would be uncomfortable. I need not have worried. I don't even wear high top socks and the boot doesn't chaff my legs even when hiking. I find them very comfortable...and comforting since they are "snake proof" (I've not tested the snake proof aspect yet, thank goodness).I purchased extra wide even though I don't normally wear extra wide. I wanted to be able to wear my thickest winter socks. It worked out well but I did change the lacing. I now have two sets of lacings for each boot. The upper section above the ankle is one lace. It's fixed and I never tighten or loosen it. Since the boots zip there's no need to change this section. The second section around the foot I can expand or tighten depending on the thickness of sock I need to wear for the conditions. Works perfect. They did take a while to break in, several weeks of daily wear and working the stiff leather but now I wear them daily. Pants legs can be a little tight getting over the tops but once over they're fine. Generally I wear painter's jeans that are not cut for boots. I do have to sometimes pull my pants cuffs down after I've been sitting. I don't find this too annoying. Overall this is a great boot well worth the cost!

Best looking on the market
They make me look so good. They fit fine but where they bend at the ankle, the leather turns in and really hurts. They seem to be heavy duty and of high quality. I do hope they last.

These boots are PLASTIC! not leather
I was a loyal danner customer for a long time. I had a pair of danner pronghorns I bought 10-12 years ago. I wore them at least 30-50 days a year in a nasty briar infested part of georgia during scouting, turkey, deer and quail season. When it came time for a new pair I was a bit shocked at the $309 msrp but the firstt ones were so good I bit the bullet and ordered them. I recieved the boots today and they will be going back tomorrow. On opening the box My first thought was"thats the cheapest looking leather ive ever seen". A quick look at the tag confirmed they werent leather at all, they are made from "leather fabric". Leather fabric=pleather=plastic= not leather at all. These are clearly not the quality that Danner was once known for. The fit was off , the sole was of lesser quality and the zipper on the side was very cheap.I was a loyal Danner customer but no more. If you want an overpriced pair of plastic boots made in Vietnam these are right up your alley.I absolutely wouldnt trust them against a 5ft diamond back.

Generally don't like snake boots
Generally don't like snake boots; too hot and too hard to get on and off. Decided to spend the extra money for good ones this time and so far am pleased. Typical Danner high quality construction. Slightly larger than I expected but that should be good on hot Texas fall days. Haven't worn them all day yet but did walk a half mile or so and they are very comfortable; appears very little break in time is needed. I am very pleased with how easy they are to get on and off; five stars for that alone. They are also very light weight.

Boots UN-fit for a star lord! (updated)
I have been a fan of Danner boots for years, these do not disappoint:I bought these to fill several needs:1: A science fiction cosplay boot for when I cosplay Star Lord, Star wars characters, or similar characters who have tall moon boots. This is really a big deal, because finding tall boots that look good, Feel comfortable, won't rip apart after one day at the Con, and resemble something a character in science fiction would wear (AKA moon boots) is very difficult. If you are looking for tall boots to cosplay mad max, star lord, star wars or any other tall rugged brown boot wearing guy, these are a great place to start!2: I hunt, fish, hike and more, and having snake boots isn't really super necessary where I live in the northeast. We get a few snake bites up here now and then, but you are far more likely to hurt yourself by scratching your shin or twisting an ankle. The added support to the ankle, and the ability to walk through rough brush without getting scratched up is what makes these worth having.I already have a pair of camo Snake boots from a rival company, but so far, after wearing them for 6 hours, these are as good or better.I will put these through some rougher situations and see how they hold up, however Danner makes very rugged footwear, at least when you consider the weight and comfort they have.3: Casual badass bootwear - Some people are weird and wear things nobody else normally wears. I'm one of these people. I will be wearing these as my casual boot daily. They go GREAT with all my pants. Stick to dark colors. These boots are DARK brown, so they go perfectly with black pants.Speaking of weight and comfort, these will absolutely need a break in period, some spots are downright painful at first, but they are softening up quickly. However they are super light, and don't bog me down when I walk. They are a big pricey, so only time will tell if they last long enough to be worth the price, but so far I love them.Update: I owned these for over a year, and wore them every day for a week, and my ankles still bear the scars, the way they cut the leather around the ankles is the WORST design I ever experienced. It never really breaks in, it just hurts, all the time. Buyer beware, if you can deal with the pain or find a way to break them in, you might like them as I did at first.

best paire of boots I ever owne
best paire of boots I ever owne. Perfect for prospection in canadien mody and rocky terrain. After breaking time fit just like an Adidas. Extremely light. very good quality. start leaking after 6 months on the right boots... but did fit what i pay for. to add to the product so ill will be the best paire of boots ever. a bush guard like heavy steal works boots. to prevent the leather to break where the shoelaises end. ill check whit the compagnie for the one years warrenty for leaking. fills like one of the boot just add manufactury issue. maybe because it china made. but if those boots where recraftable (made in use) I will never by a nother type of boots. but still love it. lots off protection and air flow.
