My daughter is starting to cook more and I want her to learn all aspects of cooking and maintaining her tools however I needed to change the current knife sharpener we had the grip for it was a little too close for comfort while sharpening the knife. This one has three different grades of sharpening and as you can see the grip for it is not anywhere near your hand. It works well and I’m not scared I’m going to accidentally cut myself anymore and it’s safe for my daughter as well.

My Cuisinart knife set was getting dull. I decided to buy a DIY knife sharpener before I would send the knives out to a professional knife sharpener. I chose LAVIN because of its high ratings. LAVIN deserves it. I pull my knives through each stage five times. The knives are definitely sharper. I have also used this successfully on scissors. I would try using it on my garden shears, but I do not think that would be sanitary. I would recommend buying the LAVIN Knife Sharpener. It would also make a great gift.

This a good maintenance sharpener. I can't recommend it for knives and such that are already beyond a simple edge honing. If your knives are in need of drastic revival of the edge, hone with a more aggressive sharpener first. This sharpener is a great tool to use after every use of a knife. Simply pass the blade over the sharpener just after use and before putting it away. Your blade edge remains sharp for next use.
