Sun Laboratories Ultra Dark Self Tanning Lotion is the real thing. It delivers a pure bronze tan that'll knock your socks off. I'll explain.. I've been self tanning now for just under four months and initially I went with Jergens Natural Glow which, is good though doesn't really produce results that are immediately noticable. Even after repeated applications the "Glow" produced is very subtle, delivering basically just a bit of color. This tanning lotion is competitively priced, goes on smooth and doesn't have an unpleasant scent. Jergens is good for a catchall backup tanner. Next I tried Banana Boat Summer Color which is similar to Jergens though produces just a bit more tanning effects. Another good backup tanner that delivers a low/medium range tan that is very inexpensive. I've been researching deeper color tanning lotions and read the great reviews of Sun Laboratories Ultra Dark Self Tanning Lotion in Amazon, therefore I gave the darkest shade a try. I was thoroughly shocked and delighted by the instant bronze glow this tanner produced. Excellent is an understatement for the deep glowing bronze tan this lotion immediately produces. This tanner is absolutely perfect, even better than St. Tropez. Extreme high quality here. It's a total game changer yet there are some facts that one needs to know before the initial application. This tanning lotion is very dark brown. It reminds me of hair color/tint. It's almost necessary to wear plastic gloves as it immediately adheres to the skin. Be careful not to get too much on your skin. After your tanning is completed it does take a few hand washes to get it off. If not careful, you'll stain your hands. This lotion is extremely intense and pure. I immediately noticed a delightful cherry 🍒scent to this lotion. Sweet and pleasant, really nice. Utilizing a tanning mit and back tanning mit are absolutely essential when using this tanning lotion, or any self-tanning lotion of course. This self-tanning lotion goes on pure and smooth and you can immediately see where your coverage extends. It's absolutely fantastic. An immediate tan is produced yet it gets even better. As your completing your body tanning coverage you'll notice it gets even darker. I wanted to go "super dark" therefore I tanned with this lotion two days in a row. My body coverage was perfect yet when applying the lotion to my face it got even darker. Wow! Rather than panic I decided to touch up areas on my body that needed a bit more coverage and then noticed that the facial blend after a while does balance out and blend in really nice. Just be careful as to how much lotion you're applying. Don't over apply too much. This Self tanning lotion will produce a deep bronze tan easily 2-3 shades darker for most complexions. Personally, I have a fair complexion with a nice amount of natural color. This self-tanning lotion has allowed me to go the approximately three shades darker that I desired. Incidentally, I use a blending brush when applying self tanning lotion to my face. I purchased a two-pack in Amazon for around five dollars and they last for years. I highly recommend the brush when applying tanner lotion or mousse to the face. You can't go wrong. Blending in self-tanning lotion is quick and painless. A done deal. Also, I apply moisturizer shortly before the application of self tanning lotion. Moisturizing allows the tanning effect to blend smoothly rather than clinging to dry areas leaving that unbalanced, blotchy, streaked look. Believe me, I've been there. The last couple of months for me have been a complete crash course in competent self tanning factors and procedures. I also apply moisturizer on days when I'm not self tanning, which extends that smooth, perfectly tanned look. As far as moisturizers go, I recommend Jergens, eos and Schick Hydro Silk Shave Cream & 24 Hour Moisturizer. They're competitively priced here in Amazon and are all extreme high quality. In all honesty, I think eos produces a smoothness unparalleled by any other moisturizer that I've tried so far. I've included photos demonstrating the research I've done on self tanning lotions and moisturizers. As you can see, I've built up quite a selection of both. Proper moisturizing before and in-between self tanning is essential in extending the life of that tan. I wait 8-10 hours before showering and this is where time, patience, attention to detail and caution payoff. The tan and glow produced here is absolutely perfect. A deep, pure, glowing beautiful tan is revealed after showering. Totally amazing, stunning and perfect. Sun Laboratories does offer self tanning lotion for the face only, which I haven't tried yet. It produces a gradual tanning effect rather than the immediate tan produced by their regular/dark body lotion. I'll be ordering it shortly. You'll see in the pics I included here the other self tanners I previously used before I tried the Sun Laboratories self-tanning lotion as noted above. They will not be purchased again. This Self tanning lotion is in that class of the very best, highest quality self tanning lotion currently available to us self tanners. It's priced under thirty dollars for the large size so that makes it very competitive price wise. Again, the quality here is second to none. This Self tanning lotion has honestly earned my very highest recommendation for results immediately experienced, that sweet cherry scent and price. Sun Laboratories has knocked it out of the park, a grand slam on every level. I won't hesitate to purchase this self tanning lotion again. The results produced here are absolutely awesome. Nothing short of amazing.✨

One of the most amazing tanning lotions! It’s got an amazing almond cherry scent, that eventually gives away to the classic stinky self tanner smell. Application is easyish as the lotion is very creamy it slides on the skin easily. I’d recommend applying it with a mit so that the product distributes for evenly. The product has a tint to it to help you see where you’ve put it, so you also end up with some instant color as well. Once you’re done applying you have to wait a little bit before getting clothed because it does stay a little sticky for a bit, that would probably be my only con. And then boom let it develop for 8 hours and you’ve got a beautiful tan. I wish it developed a little darker but it does deepen you like 3 or so shades which isn’t bad! The color is nice and not orange, but if you double apply it does start to turn a little orange. So if I wanna deepen it I use a gradual tanner on top of it instead. Overall it’s one of the only tanning lotions available on the market that actually deepens your color quite a bit and isn’t like a gradual tanner. I find mousses to apply very patchy, so I definitely recommend this product for the ease of use.

First off, I will have you know that I am the whitest person outside of genetic albinism. I can't take photos in certain lights because the flash reflects off my skin and I've just ruined a perfectly good photo op with one of those phantom-ghost smears on film. That white, folks. Even the slightest discoloration in a self-tanning product will show up as Cheeto-colored on my skin. That being said, this is an amazing product. Even though it is quite dark, both before being rubbed on and after, it doesn't turn any strange unnatural colors and is frankly one of the most natural-looking I've tried, without glitter or weird greasy residue. I wouldn't recommend putting it straight on your face, however -- I overcame this by diluting it with a little facial moisturizer before rubbing it in, or else I came out looking a little like a Jersey Shore double. I was able to put on clothes about ten minutes after applying it to my entire body, and there were no stains on the clothing. Probably wouldn't risk white clothing in that short an amount of time, however. It also smells amazing! When you're rubbing it in, the lotion smells exactly like a cherry tootsie roll pop, no joke. Sadly, the smell does fade as soon as the lotion has soaked in, but the gross chemical smell you get from most sunless tanning lotions isn't present. The one thing that does kind of irk me is that even though the lotion goes on dark, and it dries even darker, it will not stay that way. I typically slather a coat of this stuff on before bed, so I wake up with a dark lovely tan and then go to shower. The water will run off about 60% of that color. For those that find the color of this stuff a little too off-putting, just know that it won't be quite as strong after a good shower. Without exfoliating after application, one coat lasted probably about four days before fading at all. Overall, good buy, especially if you're looking for something dark but not orange-y fake-y sicky nasty. A lot better quality than your standard fare at even places like Sephora and Ulta.

I love this stuff. Best drugstore brand i've personally found is Loreal Sublime Bronze but if you're willing to spend a little more, I would HIGHLY recommend this stuff. It's the only one that hasn't turned me Oompa Loompa orange or turned me a sickly yellow color like my liver is failing. I am EXTREMELY pale, i'm talkin color of a sheet of paper, glow-in-the-dark pale. This isn't too dark on me, so I guarantee it won't be too dark for you. Don't be scared of the "Ultra Dark" description. The lotion comes out as a chocolate brown color. This is simply to help make application easier. You can see where it's going so you don't miss any spots. Super helpful, especially if you're new to sunless tanners. It has a light cherry almond smell that fades and does have that typical sunless tanner smell, but it's not overbearing and goes away after you shower (you're gonna have that smell no matter what sunless tanning method you use because that is the smell of the chemical used in these to turn your skin a color; its unavoidable). It will slightly stain clothes/sheets until you shower off the color guide. This will come out in the wash and isn't permanant. Just wear something you don't care about until you take a shower and if you apply it immediately before you go out, don't wear a light color and make sure rain isn't in the forecast because the color guide will run off of you and cause streaks. The color you are as the "tan" develops is going to be darker than the final result. If you feel you're too dark, just wait, it'll be lighter after your shower. If you like the color, you'll have to do a few more applications until it's the color you will be post-shower. Here's some tips for first time sunless tanners: 1. Exfoliate super well before your first application to get off all dead skin and make your skin smooth for an even application. 2. Work quickly and on one section of your body at a time. Make sure you rub in very well. 3. Coat rough areas (tops of feet/ankles, wrists, knees, elbows, wrists, and knuckles) with a light lotion or body oil and let sink in for a few mins before you start. This will help from too much color depositiong in these areas. 4. Pick yourself up a box of disposable gloves at the store. This will keep your palms from getting dyed which WILL happen if they're not used and good luck trying to get that off. The palms will soak up the color like no other area. 5. Try not to exfoliate too much after your first application because you will scrub off the top layer of skin which is the layer the tanner dyes, so you'll essentially scrub off your work. 6. Apply a light lotion everyday to help maintain the "tan," but make sure your lotion doesn't have AHA's in it that will exfoliate your skin and take the color away. I do 3 consecutive applications to get my desired color and then just reapply as needed after that. When I start to notice uneven patches, I completely scrub everything off and start over to avoid uneven color. It sounds like alot of work but it really doesn't take much more time than putting on regular body lotion after you get the hang of it and it saves your skin from looking like a leather handbag somewhere down the line.

This stuff is amazing! I used an applicator brush & it goes on smooth & even. Also, there is NO bad smell! It lasts a long time too! I’m hooked!

I am trying to get a little color and testing out sunless tanners before being in a wedding at the beginning of August. After years of using tanning beds, I thought I would try a sunless tanner as a safer alternative. Based on the reviews of this tanner I had super high hopes that this would be an easy way to get some awesome color. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed with the results this one gave me. I have used it twice now, because when I was disappointed after the first use, I thought I should be fair and give it a second try. After two uses, I have come to this conclusion: PROS - It is colored very dark right out of the bottle, so you can easily see where you're putting it. - It smells amazing! Like others have said, it has an almond scent, and it smells way better than most self-tanners. - After application is complete, you look instantly darker. It gives a very nice glow right away. - I did not encounter any "clumping" as other reviewers have mentioned. - The little color that stayed on my skin looked pretty natural and not really orangey. CONS - Stays sticky for quite some time after application. I put it on right before I went to bed, but even in the morning my skin was slightly sticky. - The almond smell disappears almost as soon as you apply the lotion to your skin. The smell that replaces it is the normal self-tanner stink we all know and love. - Stains VERY easily. I applied the lotion with vinyl gloves so as not to stain my hands. - Does not produce the ultra dark color that it claims to. The morning after I applied the tanner, I took a shower, washed the tanner off, and the color that was left behind was very faint and almost non-existent in some places. After the first application, I thought it may have been "applicator error", so I put it on even thicker the second time around. I received the same results. - Tans some parts of the body better than others. It seemed like my arms kept the color well, while my chest kept no color at all. I will say that for the price, this tanner was definitely worth trying. I would suggest exfoliating thoroughly and rubbing lotion into the dry parts of your skin before applying. I did not do this the first time, and was left with dark stains on my elbows and parts of my feet. I plan to continue using this product after I acquire a base tan, but unfortunately for me, it looks like I will resort back to natural tanning for a more authentic look.

By far this is the BEST self tanner I have ever used.Tried many, & liked none really, untill Now. I have a tanning bed, which I love to use, but wanted to be darker, faster, & its safer. So I have read MANY reviews about this, & almost all were great, I kinda thought maybe a little to good to be true, but decided to just purchase a give it a try myself, & I couldn't be any happier at all. I absolutely Love it. No streaks at all, seriously. Not a bit orange, beautiful bronze brown color. It smells wonderful when applying, but honestly after applied and a while later the DHA smell kicks in, stinky..lol but to me it is worth it for the end result. I just suggest using it a day you aint going any where, or later at night before bed.. When I showered this morning, I was watching to see how much would fade off & I could tell some came off, because the water was a little brownish color, & thought there goes the color down the drain, but after I got out & look in the mirror I swear my color looked so much better some how, didn't look like anything faded, or streaked or anything like some self tanner will do once you shower. I didn't use anything when applying but my bare hands, but i let the sink run the whole time, & after i did one area (one leg, one arm, stomach, ect) at a time I would rinse my hands with soap & dry them & start on another area, I think if you didn't rinse untill you applied it to your whole body, your palms would be really orange or black, but since I rinsed in between, my aren't thankfully, they aren't spot less, did stain a little but nothing dramatic, & I can barely tell, mainly just a few finger tips, but washing them has about faded them back to normal now. (Only reason I did it bare handed is because I seen someone say they have tried it with & with out gloves, and she noticed with out using gloves it made her look darker and no streaks, and with she said she had a few noticeable streaks and didn't look as dark.) I just can't explain my love for this, I mean it is seriously wonderful, & I will be buying untill the day I can't buy it anymore, Hope that never happens tho. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this, so if you are thinking about buying it, Please do, I don't see how anyone can regret this, the color it gives is too beautiful...

When I first started self tanning over a decade ago, this was the first product I ever used. It was an immediate favorite back then and it remains a favorite today, which is really saying something because I've tried just about ever self tanner under the sun. The product smells amazing—think classic Jergens cherry almond hand cream nostalgia. It glides on smoothly, blends seamlessly, and I've never had any issues with streaking. But what really sets this product apart for me? It's not ORANGE. I naturally have more of a yellow-ish skin tone, and I find that a lot of olive based tanners still leave me looking Oompa Loompa-esque. Not this one. It gives me a rich, natural-looking tan that actually compliments my skin tone. Oh, and it LASTS! This lasts on my skin for about a week and fades gradually over time. I don't find that it gets patchy or looks wonky as it fades. I tend to apply this two nights in a row to get a deeper tan, and then I'll used a gradual tanning lotion to maintain the intensity of the tan throughout the week. 10/10 LOVE this product! However, I do have one downside to this specific order—the pump that came with the product didn't fit the bottle. It was too large to screw on and the pump itself couldn't function properly. I ended up having to pour the product out in globs, which made things a bit messy. It didn't take away from how much I love the actual product, though. Just something to be aware of. Despite that, this tanner remains unmatched in my book and I'm honestly not sure why more people don't talk about it.

This really is the only tanning lotion I would ever use and ever recommend! I do mix mine with body lotion to have it last longer in gradual shades, and its beautiful. I do wish the price would be more genuine, as it is cheaper on the actual website. And really dissappointed as the last 2 times I tried ordering it here it was out of stock and I had to be refunded. I’m an amazon girl, so don’t enjoy ordering off of other websites. But please, if you’re out of stock, update your status!

Best self tanner on the market. No strong smell or the “self tan” smell best natural color and dark. I’m pale & blonde and people always compliment me on color. They think it’s a natural tan Lol. The tint does run in the water though but I don’t swim! And it’s easy to re apply- use gloves and it’s perfect.
