Simple, easy game - loads of battle fun!!
Well, I have to admit I did not play this game 50 years ago nor have I ever experienced the "original version" that was apparently made so much better than this one according to other reviewers......BUT....I'm surprised by all the negative comments about "not worth buying", "cheaply made", etc. I got this for my 8 year old son's birthday and I have to say its provided LOADS of light-hearted fun. He was SO EXCITED when he opened the box (and he'd never heard of this game!) It's not a game you sit and play for hours, but we love taking turns battling each other - Dad versus son, Mom versus Dad, son versus little sister, son versus granddad, son versus friend, etc. The robots are easily moved, buttons work well and there is some practice and skill required to win (busting the head off your opponent's robot). You have to block and you have to hit the chin just right to sock the head off your opponent! For Christmas we purchased a VERY EXPENSIVE electronic battle bots game with remote controls. That game is TERRIBLE compared to this one and it's much "better made" (not cheap by any means). We've played Rock 'em Sock 'em 10 times more than the expensive, electronic bells and whistles version. Sometimes simple is better and I think this game should be appreciated for what it's meant to be - a battle robot game for kids who will DELIGHT in rockin' those robots and sockin' their heads off! :)

Great gift item!
I purchased this for my little brother (he's now 21 years old) as a funny Christmas gift, I thought it might bring back some memories! You can't beat the price for something that brings memories of your childhood and makes your sibling smile! :) These are just as I remember when I was little and my brother laughed as soon as he opened it! He didn’t laugh as much when I kicked his butt though... haha! Shipping was quick (prime) and it arrived packaged well. It's sturdy enough that I would feel comfortable with my kids playing with this (which I'm sure they will along with my little brother!). We probably won't use it as often as some because it was a gift for a 21 year old, but if you are looking to buy this as a gift for a young child, I would recommend it. They'll have a blast just like we used to!

The parts don't break easily like some games do and it performs perfectly
When i saw this i just had to buy it. Reminds me of when i was a child and had one of these. I bought this for my toddler and it has been a big hit. It is very well made and works perfectly. Ready to use minutes after opening it from the box. The parts don't break easily like some games do and it performs perfectly. Great product for toddlers or for adults who want to bring back childhood. Love this gameI realize how important a good review is to a buyer. I give honest and heart felt reviews on products that a purchase and receive. I base most of my purchases on reviews so I understand that it is fair to be completely honest on reviews. That being said I hope this review will help a buyer with his or her decision to buy or not buy this product.

Fun game for two
This is probably half the size of the same game that my children had when they were young. The directions for putting together the parts could be much better but we finally got it together. The "ropes" that would go outside of the boxing ring were too tight to fit into place (they were preassembled at the factory) so we decided they weren't necessary, and they aren't. The kids and people who played had fun, the game worked well, blocks got knocked off, and whoever plays a lot is going to end up with very strong thumb muscles. :) Overall, fun. I gave it a 4 overall for the directions, which weren't enough for a couple of adults, and the ropes not being usable. Still, overall, a fun game that worked well once assembled (only about 4 or 5 parts to attach.)

My 36 Year Old Brother Loved His 6 Year Old's Gift!
This was purchased for my 6 year old nephew, however it was REALLY purchased for my 36 year old brother (his step-dad). My brother had a set of metal rock'em sock'em robots when he was a child. I knew he and his son would enjoy playing with this together, so I made the purchase as a Christmas gift to the 6 year old. What a hit these were! Everyone at our Christmas gathering enjoyed playing with it! This toy is smaller than they used to be and it's not quite the same quality, however it is a lot of fun!

Frustrated instead of Fun
Rock em Sock em was one of my favorite games to play as a kid. My brothers and I would play for hours against each other. When I saw this game on Amazon around the Holidays, I was super excited to order it for my son, and enjoy a game from my childhood with him.Like a lot of board games now a days, this game is really cheaply made, which I feel is why it isn’t as fun as I remember. The robots would either slide out of their sides of the boxing ring or move forward and almost look like they were falling into the ring.Because the pieces are all plastic, and cheaply made; it was difficult to really get the robots to stay in the spots they should’ve been in. I kept trying to push them in place, but I was afraid the harder I pushed the more likely I was to break the plastic clip they were supposed to attach to, and then the game would be useless.I hate to say, but this game definitely was a let down from the one I so enjoyed as a kid. It didn’t meet my expectations at all, and I’d probably say to go with a different game. My 5 year old son didn’t enjoy playing because of the robots and how they wouldn’t stay in, and instead of having fun we just got frustrated. 😤😤
