Gone are the days of struggling with unwieldy corkscrews and broken cork mishaps. This waiter's corkscrew has been a game-changer in my wine experience. As someone who drinks wine very regularly, I've tried many different types and versions of corkscrews. While the rabbit and wing styles are easy, they are, in my opinion, way too bulky to store and carry to be worth buying. When I finally wore down my favorite, just a simple hinged waiter's corkscrew, I decided to get this OXO version. We like OXO here in my house and own plenty of their gadgets. This functions very well as a hinged waiter's style corkscrew, but without some of the moving pieces that broke down on the last one that I loved. The "hinge" is more of a pop-out feature inside (rather than outside) the handle, making it a little less likely to get banged around in a drawer, cooler, etc. The handle has that good OXO texture, making it easy to grip and use. The corkscrew itself is nice and sharp, easily starting the entry into the cork. The foil knife is my only complaint - while it is very visually appealing, it's a little too curved for my taste and I find it awkward to flip out and use as easily as a straight blade. It's very sturdy, and I am sure I'll get many good years of service out of this compact little tool.

Nit picking: Only gave a 4 star rating because of the serrated foil cutter, its radius is too small to get the teeth onto any bottle I've encountered and this cutter type leaves a ragged edge anyway. Took a file to the tip to make it sharp to cut a smooth foil edge and slit the cap. Other than that, like any OXO product I've bought, it is very functionally designed. Kudos for the double-lever, the two-step bottle lip hook which gives great leverage to start cork extraction, then a quick flip to the second step giving fast, easy leverage to pull the most stubborn cork and solve a pet peeve of other corkscrews: One only needs to screw into just near the top of the spiral, not needing to pierce the cork completely, getting bits in the wine. The detents for the lip hook and corkscrew are also nice, keeping things where they need to be. At half the price of other similar designs and with the nice cushy grip, it is pleasing every time I open a new bottle. One of those simple little pleasures of life.... on the way to enjoying good wine! I still use my Monopol prong style for old corks that tend to dry out and be brittle. Don't waste $ on a cheap type of those that break.

Excellent wine 🍷 opener.....

People seem to obsess over their corkscrews. Does OXO have any cache with the wine crowd? Probably not. However, I can say this is an awesome product. It is of excellent quality, very sturdy and simple to use...assuming you know how to use waiter's corkscrews. (It is not rocket science, but if you have never used one before, you should watch a you tube video.) The foil cutter looks short, which some have complained about. However, it actually is a breeze to use. The cork lifts straight out with no issues. The lever sits nicely on the bottle lid and there is no gouging when you pull the cork out. If you want a quality tool that will last and do the job, BUY THIS. If you want a "fancy" looking one as a gift or to "show off" (i.e. you are serving high end wines where customers notice such things) look elsewhere.

I am a wine drinker, and have many different corkscrews. This was works perfectly, is so easy to use, and thus far, seems sturdy. I don't normally use the cork to recap the wine bottle, so making a hole in the cork isn't an issue for me. Hoping this lasts a long time, but would definitely buy it again! Overall, I can almost always count of OXO products to be excellent!

like OXO products. This corkscrew works well – and I've opened many bottles of wine – but it has a major design flaw. The first hinge of this two-hinge wine bottle opener snags on the cork as you pull up, b/c the hinge overlaps the lip of the bottle, and ends up shredding the top half of the cork. Every time. It opens bottles with remarkable ease, the worm is nicely designed, but OXO blew it on the hinge design. Yeah, you can finesse it to get it to not shred the cork, but it's an extra action you shouldn't have to take. I sent it back.

It's a little bit "shaky" after few uses.

Does the job

It’s a simple tool, nothing extraordinary, but it is well made and I like it. Bottle opener is useful and effective - just a shame there is no foil cutter.
