got my 10 year Coleman Sundome & 6 year Timberland boots fresh!
i went camping & realized my 10 year old 6P Coleman Sundome had a stench in it when we opened it that had to go (it was a little embarrassing). now mind you, we had never cleaned out tent so this was overdue.I was close to docking a star for poor instructions so definitely do you research and reach out to GEARAID and the companies of products you plan to wash. don't do it after the fact and just get lucky like we did. leaving it 5 stars because the product really works well.we ended up filling up a bathtub & putting a capful (it's the *whole* cap, not just the circular screw part) - we threw the whole tent in & let it soak for 30 min.I made the mistake of using cotton socks on an 18 day adventure so I looked at the tub & just threw my Timberland boots in.Coleman apparently doesn't recommend soaking any of their tents as it damages the PU waterproof coating. GEARAID said if the coating is not gummy or sticky we should be fine. We've never had to use our tent in rain for the 10 years we've had it so this prolly went in our favor.at the end of the day, we pitched the wet tent in the garage and just let it dry.we were happy there were no toxic smelling fumes or fragrances - it was mild.it dried overnight & left the tent up another 2 days to be sure. The tent was very "fresh" smelling (defined as the absence of funk not fragrance!), I made a large repair to the pole sheaths while it was clean w tenacious tape and we packed it.I'll know for sure end of October when we pitch this bad boy back up what the difference is. for now, it feels like a cleansing of the past & glad cleaning the tent can be easy. now as for next time the tent needs a "deep clean", I think I'll just soak it 5 min (instead of 30)it worked great on my hiking boots - I let it air dry & no more funk coming from my boots anymore! now Timberland doesn't recommend soaking leather boots so I'll figure out what to do next time when the time comes. it's so nice to be in clean boots & they are already 6 years old & running strong!so if there is any morale of this story: soak at your own risk but it seems to work :)

Got the gas stink out of my life jackets
We kept our lifejackets in the hull of the boat over the winter. When I pulled them out to begin the boating season they reeked of gas. Everything I tried did not get that stink out. I ordered this and it worked! I had to soak the lifejackets on two separate occasions, but they stink do not stink like gas any more.

Eliminated 90% odor on 20+ year old tent
I used isopropyl alcohol to remove the polyurethane waterproof coating on my tent as the odor on my tent was not due to mold or mildew but more likely caused by the natural degradation of the original polyurethane waterproofing over time. Once wiped clean with isopropyl alcohol, the next step was to plunge the tent into a bathtub full of water and the Gear Aid odor eliminator for 5 minutes. After drying for 24 hours the odor was almost completely gone. I am very pleased with the odor elimination results.I then applied a fresh coat Gear Aid DWR waterproofing spray to the clean tent and rainfly, added a bit of seam sealer where needed and now have a revitalized older tent that was absolutely worth the work since the fabric, zippers, poles etc. of the older tent are more sturdy than the new tent I was going to buy. Also Gear Aid customer service is outstanding!

Used to clean my lifejackets
I bought this to clean and deodorize my lifejackets. Easy to use and the odors are gone after 1 wash! It is a little pricey but it is concentrated. Worth the money!

Great solution for stinky gear!
My tent had been in storage for a few years. Before that I had used it when going on multi-day horseback riding trips, and when I took it out, the smell of horse was overwhelming. Airing it out did nothing. After some research, I washed it in a tent detergent, rinsed, soaked it in a diluted vinegar bath, rinsed and dried, and finally soaked it in this. Per the instructions, did not rinse it afterward, just air dried. The smell is totally gone! I’ve since used it on other things like sleeping bags and athletic gear, and it works great for that as well. It has a slight scent, but a nice one, and it fades to almost nothing once it dries. Definitely recommend it.

Works ok, but still have oder.
I soaked an older tent in it and the smell won't come out. Not sure if the tent or the product is not working

Shockingly, it actually did a decent job reducing decades of musty smell
I got an old tent from a local scouts organization and it is probably 30+ years old. The poles had rust and repairs, the tent itself is stained in lots of places, and it smelled like it had been in an unheated garage for a decade. It was very musty, to the point where I couldn't really stand using it, even after setting it up and trying to air it out for hours. It's a nice quality tent, but it had seen better days.I used this product (as directed on the instructions), basically soaking it in the dilute solution in a bucket for a short while, then setting it up wet, in the hot summer sun, and drying it out ASAP (to avoid damaging the sealants). At first, I didn't notice a huge difference, but after it just sat out for a while, it lost about 90% of the musty smell. I thought it would work faster than that, but it really required a few hours of sitting and drying, but the smell was almost gone, and the tent is usable again.

Wetsuit Magic!
My son's wet wetsuit was left in a trash bag in his car days. Wetsuit was in garage, but still could smell it in the house. Weighted the wetsuit down in a 5 Gal bucket and let it soak for 24hrs then hung it to dry. Literally odorless once it dried. Have dealt with lots of funky wetsuits for decades, never experienced anything even close to this.
