Fixed my leaking fridge
My old 1987 GE side-by-side refrigerator/freezer in the garage has been leaking water for a while. It was getting worse, especially when the weather was warm. Also, the refrigerator was working very hard to keep things cold. It seemed to be related to the defrosting cycle being on too long.I thought it was related to either the defrost timer or the defrost thermostat. Just to be safe, I ordered both parts on Amazon. The pricing was reasonable and I didn't want to have to go through the effort pulling the refrigerator apart twice if one of the items didn't fix the problem. I waited for a cold Winter day and emptied all the food out of the fridge / freezer and put it in coolers. While I was at it, I gave the interior a good cleaning. Might as well get everything done in one shot.It turned out that the thermostat was OK. I pulled the old one out, tested it to make sure it worked, and then put it back in. It was behind the freezer rear wall. So now I have a spare new one for the future.I replaced the defrost timer which is inside the refrigerator. Fortunately the multi-wire connector fit the timer. I was worried because the socket on the timer looked different. But I just had to flip the connector 180 degrees and it fit perfectly. Since I replaced the defrost timer, I've had no water on the floor any more. Either the old timer cycle was erratic or occasionally getting stuck. It's been over two months now and the fridge is working fine. This refrigerator/freezer is 34 years old and it still works well. The plastic inside is starting to deteriorate. I had to paint the outside metal because of rust spots (Humid weather here in TX causing condensation). I replaced the water/Ice solenoid valve twice. But aside from that, no major issues. I don't think they make appliances like this any more. My wife's 2010 Samsung refrigerator in the kitchen is all digital. If something goes on that, I think it's going to be difficult to figure out what's wrong.

Was for really old fridge
Waited so long for it to be delivered and when it was the repair guy said he couldn’t use it.

Worth what I paid for it.
Accidentally purchased this product for a 50 year old Whirlpool refrigerator because it looked an awful lot like the one on there that went bad and it had the same terminal designations (1,2,3,4). Come to find out the on some brands the defrost timer switches the hot wire (whirlpool) and on some it switches the neutral wire (GE, Kenmore). When I first installed it I placed the wires on the same terminals as I took them off of the old unit and the refrigerator would not run. I swapped the hot and neutral wires on terminals 1 and 3 and it now works great, but I don't know how long it will last given that it is misapplied. Anyway, lesson learned - buy the right unit for your brand of refrigerator. If you have a GE, this unit is just fine.

traded for adjustable timer
Nothing wrong with this timer. I just found out on utube that adjustable timers are available which will allow me to adjust frequency and duration of defrost cycle so I returned this item and ordered a Supco adjustable timer for about the same price. Al Davis

So Far So Good
It installed without any issues and so far is operating without a problem. It would make me feel better if it was UL (or ETL, CSA, etc.) certified for electrical safety since it is switching a heavy electrical load.

It works
This came fast. It’s the second replacement with the last one having lasted a little over a year (not from this manufacturer). The new one has a lifetime warranty so at least if it fails I’ll get a replacement without cost. They are mechanical so easy to keep your fridg working while the replacement is on the way. Just advance the timer from the back until the fridge runs

Quality part.
This part was one of 3 parts I ordered for my 20+ year old refrigerator. I’m so happy to get more life out of this appliance! Spending approximately $60 instead of $1000+ is cause for celebration!
