Solidly built, good length
We bought a two pack of these tree felling wedges, but planned to use them to steady a 4 x 4 fence post that was loose. Pounding the shim into the space created by the wiggle was much preferable to either pounding the post in more deeply, filling the hole with more dirt or digging it up and starting over. The wedge has been in place for a few weeks and it and the 4 x 4 remain solid, no wiggles. This was the longest wedge we could find, which was important given the off label use we had in mind, and we're happy with the result.

Does what they are intended to do
I purchased these wedges to replace ones that I had used up, intending to use them primarily for falling, but also to prevent bar chain bind when bucking up downed trees. I have used wood and plastic wedges in the past, and prefer plastic wedges at they seem easier to reposition than wood wedges. Unlike any of the previous wedges that I have used, these have small one-way spikes intended to keep the wedges from backing out of the cut or springing out of place as the tree moves, or as multiple wedges are driven into place in combination. The spikes do seem to keep the wedges from backing out as well as keeping them somewhat straight when driving them alternately. But, they also make it a bit more difficult to pull a wedge if you need to reposition it.I used a pair of these to fall a 30" diameter pine tree that had some back and side lean then I needed to overcome to get it down in a clear space. The wedges held up to fairly heavy pounding with the back of an axe without deforming.I gave these wedges a 5-star rating because the one-way spikes did seem to work, and the wedges have held up to heavy pounding, and didn't deform when driven into a cut in a fairly heavy tree. I will also have traditional smooth faced wedges that are easier to reposition on hand, but couldn't see down-rating these wedges for doing what they are intended/advertised to do.

Affordable wedges
The first tree I used this wedge on was going to get hung in another tree, didn't really have a choice, so I sent it. Used this wedge to run it free of the branch it got hung on and it ultimately beat the crap out of the back of this wedge. It was listed as being a really hard wedge but ultimately got mangled pretty bad in a softwood tree. I am still going to recommend the product for a couple reasons, however. One, they're very affordable. Two, the damage was mostly my own fault, knowing I was dropping a pretty horrible tree. I do feel like wedges should be able to take a pretty strong abuse, however, given their purpose, so I can't completely say this is the best wedge on the market. They get the job done and they're cheap enough to replace frequently.

Get these!
These are the go-to! These are way worth more for the money than the ones in all the stores that sell the big orange"S" brand. Dont get me wrong, I love the the big orange "S" brand equipment, im just not going to pay that much for spikes that will get destroyed by a saw in no time. These do have good quality and feel like the high price ones in stores. I like how if the saw chain gets into them a bit it doesnt seem to hurt your chain, just eats away at the wedges nice and soft until you notice it.Nice bright orange color so you dont lose em.When I need more ill buy them again no problem.

Timber!
Worked great, tree fell where intended.

Lightweight and takes a beating
These wedges weigh almost nothing and will take a hit during felling trees. Remember they are plastic and a saw will still chew right through them.

Long Wedges for Big Trees
I've had a set of 8" wedges for some time and I can't count the times I've buried the whole wedge in the trunk of the tree without it falling. The extra length of these wedges has provided the extra push to drop those larger trees.
